Obama Administration to Delay New 15-Cent Christmas Tree Tax

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is going to delay implementation and revisit a proposed new 15 cent fee on fresh-cut Christmas trees, sources tell ABC News. The fee, requested by the National Christmas Tree Association in 2009, was first announced in the Federal Registry yesterday and has generated criticism of President Obama from conservative media outlets.

The well-trafficked Drudge Report is leading with the story, linking to a blog by David Addington, a former top aide to then-Vice President Dick Cheney, at the conservative Heritage Foundation assailing the president thus: “The economy is barely growing and nine percent of the American people have no jobs. Is a new tax on Christmas trees the best President Obama can do?
And, by the way, the American Christmas tree has a great image that doesn’t need any help from the government.”

just another joke to steal money from the tax payers thats all liberal know is to tax tax tax and tax some more

  • AliveStillKickin

Well….If they “delay” it until after December 25th….Won’t it be too late since most people I know stop buying Christmas Trees once the season is over?…………….DUH!!!!!!!
This proves that they are completely insane.

That just makes it law for the following year – delays the tax for “our children”. First, the administration has no business taxing anyone without express Congressional instruction. Second, get rid of the Department of Agriculture.

“We don’t need no more stinkin’ taxes.”

Not exactly insane, the trick is to pass the thing. After they pass it, there is no stopping how much they tax. Again another attack on christians. And this way it will be AFTER the re-election of this de facto, pseudo, so called prez. I think this guy is the anti-christ.

  • mrbobl

Seems to me this is a tax aimed directly at Christians. Muslims and atheists don’t buy Christmas trees. The obummy gang shouldn’t be legislating ANY taxes. November 2012 come on, come on!

My thoughts exactly….also, remember when he first took office and implemented the tax on tanning beds? Who does that target? Not blacks, mexicans, asians or anyone of color…..primarily whites (and more specifically white women)

  • warren reynolds

Oh gee, thank you your highness,,

  • Freeda

Obama administration has inflicted brand new taxes on tanning booth places and Christmas trees. These are both specifically targeted taxs for White people and Christians.

    Dhimmi. It’s a Jizya tax.

  • Betha Harkness

Typical…..for Obama to tax Christians and Tanning Booths…(hadn’t heard that one yet)…yep it is whites he is after also…Funny he is half white but he likes to forget it and we sure would like to also. What a complete loser he is. He has committed enough criminal acts to be impeached. But the gutless wonders we have in Congress are either idiots or not smart enough to understand how Obama is trying to destroy America. Also he does not fit the profile of what a president must be…..he is not a naturalized citizen. What idiots we have in congress. Even if he had a legal birth certificate he still wouldn’t be legal. He has now legalized thousands of illegal Mexicans. Under the table as usual…he couldn’t possible do it legal…it wouldn’t be Obama then. The worst president in the history of America and congress (BOTH PARTIES) are letting him lead them around by the nose.

Taxing with no right to do it – the tree association is behind it – but not because they think we need to be taxed but greed. Whoever, this surely is a slap again white christians anyway you look at it. Come on 2012.

  • Berenice

He can stick his taxes where the sun don’t shine.

Well, how are they going to collect a tax on an artificial tree I bought 11 years ago? Who is going to collect it and how many people are going to be granted a pass on the tax? Will there be a tree czar with a tax collector on every tree lot that pops up on vacant lots at Christmas time? What law was passed to collect such a tax? What will the revenue be used for? How much is the projected revenue? Will every state be mandated to collect the tax? How much will it cost to implement this stupid program? Will the costs be completely offset by revenue? So many questions and no answers. Sounds about right from a corrupt government!
