Cantor promises House vote to repeal ObamaCare soon

cantor

Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) told House Republicans on Friday that they will soon get a chance to vote a full repeal of ObamaCare.

“While we have not locked in the timing, I expect that the House will vote on full repeal of ObamaCare in the near future,” he told members in a memo.

Many Republicans have been eager to vote against the 2010 healthcare law, as they did last year. But so far, GOP leaders have refrained from calling up a repeal bill and instead tried to pass a tweak that failed to win enough GOP votes in April.

Last month, the party proposed a bill that would have eliminated what Republicans say is a “slush fund” within the law and used that money to fund an insurance program for people with pre-existing conditions. But leaders ended up pulling the bill after it became clear that many conservatives were on the fence about propping up the insurance plan.

I hope so. Democrats will never admit when they’re wrong or when they’ve screwed up. They know Obamacare is a train wreck, but they have a point to prove. It has nothing to do about healthcare with them anymore. It’s all about control.

  • gparra9

Its about time Cantor untucked his tail from between his legs & “MAYBE” grown some cajones, but don’t count on it America this is the same “RINO” that’s looking to give “ILLEGAL ALIENS” amnesty or rather going along with the gang of 8 so called Immigration reform………….THIS CHUMP CAN”T BE TRUSTED TO DO THE RIGHT THING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • El Poder de Cristo Te Obliga!

Yes, Cantor was also one if not the main quintessential force that was in secret talks last week trying to escape from 0-zer0care!
He has had three years to repeal it and now with less than 18 months to go to Election 2014, he decides to jump on the “its’ a train wreak” mantra!?!
Once again gparra9, you are right on point with your posting….especially the last line! Bravisimo!!!

  • jerry1944

Cantor is a mod and really want the healthcare and is waiting till it has been around for a while to make it look like he is against it. Since when have they ever did away with a government program. Such thanks to the tradtor judge Roberts for helping do away with the country. But I will probly be voteing 3rd party anyways

    • dagriz

Didn’t 2012 teach you ANYTHING??? Dividing the Conservative vote is why we’re where we are today..And the Left is STILL planting TROLLS in blogs Knocking republicans at every chance,,, could be that YOU ARE one

      • http://www.facebook.com/orcuttpepa Rick H. Renaud

Didnt 2012 teach you anything???? Voting Republican is the same as voting Democrat! Everyone has the right and responsibility to vote for who they believe is the best for them and this country no matter what you think!

        • FlufferNutter

Rick, I agree with you in spirit however, they ALL lie when they’re running to keep their seats in govt. Ones ‘due diligence’ is required regardless who or what Party is being considered.

      • jerry1944

When the gop turn the same as the libs with there pick You don’t have a choise I know there are a lot that say just pick the best of the worst but no thank you, That’s how the dems treat the blacks. Being a conservative I am tired of voteing for a mod and if thr gop want to keep loseing then there isn’t much I can do to stop them but hope we get a conservative 3rd party

  • sean murry

Just do it and quit talking about dump it.

  • DON THE BRITTON

Promises, promises that is all we get from congress on legislation that the majority of people support, but they ram through, without even reading, the things Obama demands. They are far more interested in keeping their positions of power than following the constitution and so they keep selling their soles to get re-elected.

The sooner the better. South Carolina just outlawed it so now it’s time for the rest of the country to follow suit before it goes any further and more money is spent on it.

    • jlbs

I hand it to SC, but I’m afraid the ugly dragon will take on more fire and sharpen his tail and his tongue and do all in his power to destroy SC. We need more states to follow SC.

      • El Poder de Cristo Te Obliga!

Yep, just ask Arizona all about “…the ugly dragon taking on more fire and sharpening his tail and his tongue….” thing going on over the enforcement of federal laws already on the books concerning protecting American citizens versus the rights of illegal border crossings!

A big part of Obama’s planned destruction of America is bankrupting of the nation. This isn’t just Obama’s plan, as he is only another pawn being used by the elite to facilitate their plans for the new world order. And, who are these mysterious “elite”? They are the cabal of the NWO who are the old and new rich “aristocrats” of Europe and America. They are the bored rich who have so much money, they’re bored with life. They now want to enjoy the thrill of power, and I mean the real power of life and death over all of humanity. They have convinced themselves that they know what’s best for us. Unfortunately, for 90 percent of us, that means dying. They believe that there are just too many of you out there, too many to efficiently control. After all, it’s easiest to control smaller numbers of people, especially if they are unarmed. Their plan is to take all of your guns, rights, wealth, property, and then, at last, if you serve no purpose for their NWO, your lives.

ObamaCare is unsustainable, it will bankrupt the nation and kill Social Security. Is America for Sale? Insider trading abounds in Washington, and a new kind of fascism is taking over our country! The merger of corporations and foreign governments mixed together – whereby international corporate power now dominates our congress, its thinking, our national sovereignty, and the people be damned. With the emergence of ever-larger multinational corporations (that Big Banks and others have become, special interest groups are now infiltrating into the hallways of our law makers- tugging at the lapels of our legislators in the U.S. Congress. The nibbling has now become big bites at the core of our freedom. I want my country back! Vote all these incumbant idiots out of office. A Patriot!

  • http://www.facebook.com/bbertha Brian Bertha

Well I suppose that would be nice of course they could have de funded it at will. They will vote and pass it in the house before the next election of course it will fail in the senate. Again if they really wanted to stop it they would not fund it.

Even if the plan was a question on the ballot of the next national election my guess is that it would stand . If you can change a national election then a question would be easy.

  • Gee

OK, Stop With The Game Playing, Concentrate on Winning Back The Senate With A Veto-Proof Majority in Both The Senate and House, It Can Be Done. We Are Getting Real Sick Of All The Gamesmanship Crapola. DO IT…… Cheers Semper Fi

It has become clear that if we can not get rid of in one fell swoop we will have to nickel and dime it to death. But, we will be rid of this meddlesome muslim and his marxist plans

  • maryatlanta

Congress must do the right thing and repeal/defund this egregious bill. Obamacare is wrong on every level. Seventy-seven percent of US citizens opposed Obamacare. It has been forced upon us by the socialist left. Obmamcare is unsustainable, diminishes the quality of healthcare, is causing gifted doctors to leave the healthcare profession, driving private insurance costs out of reach… but primarily it is an immoral “tax’ forcing taxpayers to support death panels, Planned Parenthood and abortion. Obamacare is immoral. “Not with my tax dollars” – Congress must defund Obamacare.

  • dave

Cantors plan is likely nothing but another smokescreen designed to deceive the American people into thinking that congress is finally going to do something about ovomitcare to prop up the republicans in congress sagging approval numbers , when in actuality repeal of ovomitcare has no chance of going any further even if it does pass the house . It will be dead in the senate. THE ONLY WAY TO SLAY THE OVOMITCARE DRAGON ONCE AND FOR ALL IS TO DEFUND IT !!! Cut off all funding for it and that could have been done thru any one of a half a dozen continuing resolutions over the past 2 years but boner has rubberstamped all funding for ovomitcare!! The main culprit in this ovomitcare caper on the republican side is none other than the speaker of the house john boner !!! He must go immediately for there to be any chance of defunding ovomitcare!! He is the enemy of the republican party and while he certainly has plenty of accomplices that are also enemies of the republican party and the conservative movement , boner is the greatest enemy and at this point in the election cycle i believe that because of the ineptitude of boner and company , that there is a better than even chance that the dumocrap party will retake the house in the 2014 midterm election , If this nation even survives that long !!

    • birdman8421

Admittedly boner is too squishy and ineffective. Hard to tell at times whose side he is on. BUT, when the election for speaker was held, piglosi was less than 20 votes away from returning to the speaker’s position! As bad as he is, surely piglosi would have been infinitely worse. The only “human” that could have exceeded piglosi’s corruption and malfeasance is probaby mooshelle. What a disgusting thought.

I don’t trust Cantor. Boehner. McCarthy, McConnell or any of the elitist, go-along-to-get-along RINOS. Let’s vote in Cruz, Mike Lee, Rand Paul, Tom McClintock, Gowdy, Chaffetz, Amash and Dr. Benjamin Carson and hos abundance of common sense.

  • localnet

Sorry, I don’t trust these guys any longer to do the right thing. Besides, with the makeup of the current senate, nothing will come of this anyway. Our only hope will be to take the senate back in 2014, until then, they will continue to blow smoke up our you know whats…

  • BigJohn555

That is a fun theatrical performance. We all know that even if the Houses passes it, the Senate won’t, and if the Senate does as well, BHO will veto the bill, and the Congress won’t have the votes to override the veto.
Let’s see something meaningful, like the House refusing to pass any legislation which would allow even one thin dime to be spent on Obamacare or its implementation.
    What say you now, Eric?

  • grannylake

It should be declared unconstitutional. When the Supreme Court stated that this bill that originated in the Senate was a tax, it became unconstitutional because tax bills must orginate in the House.

    • daves

The Senate inserted the text of the bill into a House resolution in order to make sure it originated in the house.

      • grannylake

Dang! I didn’t know that. That whole system is just wrong. I think one bill should have one issue, should be limited it length, should not refer to another law or at least another law that is unconstitutional, should be written in common English and most of all should be released early enough to allow it to be read by all three branches of the Federal Government and any citizen that may want to comment on it before the vote.

  • James312

    Playing with the voters again.

  • CelticRune

    All talk and posturing……………….

  • daves

This will be about the 37th time they have had this vote. There’s some good use of taxpayer funds!

  • acecannon

This sounds like a great thing but Cantor just doesn’t have the guts to stand firm on anything.

  • jojo58

He also needs the house to vote down the stupid internet tax law that the senate RINOs voted for. Can’t wait to vote out Lamar Alexander.

  • mistyl@windstream.net

I hope Obamacare is repealed and the IRS is abolished.Everyone write your congressman about this mess. Why does a government care about your Health. This isn’t about Health it is about control. If Obamacare goes into effect I will never go to the doctor again.
