Senators warn new EPA rules would raise gas prices

Senators from both sides of the aisle are warning that looming EPA regulations on gasoline could impose billions of dollars in additional costs on the industry and end up adding up to 25 cents to every gallon of gas.

The senators, in a letter this week to EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson, urged the agency to back off the yet-to-be-released regulations. Though the EPA has not yet issued any proposal, they claimed the agency is planning to call for a new requirement to reduce the sulfur content in gasoline.

The US has not been a Legal Government since the Civil War when Lincoln carved out the state of West Virginia! Article IV, Section 3 of the Constitution states this:
“… but no new State shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or Parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress. “
The Virginia Legislature did not “Consent” to have West Virginia carved out it! Nor did the Congress “Consent” to such an action!

I don’t think anyone can get thru to the White House on anything dealing with the EPA. They are like Al Gore and his stand on global warming, they have no facts to back up their agument, but pass laws and regulations that cost taxpayers millions. They passed EPA regulations on diesel fuel for over the road trucks, then made the manufactures place extra equipment on the truck engins to make them burn cleaner. The price of diesel went up, the cost of new trucks went up, and who pid the price tag, consumers who purchased the trucks or consumers who purchased the goods that a truck transports. The Obuma administration ois going after the coal industry in America to shut it down, while there is no reugulations being placed on coal mined out of the country. What a bunch of clowns we have running this country. No jobs because of government reuglations on air quality, and the fact that they allowed all the good jobs to go off shore. China and Russa are setting on large coal reserves that they would love to sell to anyone who wants it, and they could give a dame about America’s EPA.

When VA Seceeded from the Union this made Article IV, Section 3 no-longer applicable. Virginia was considered to be a state in rebelion and as such the restriction imposed by Article IV Section 3 did not apply to the formation of WVA. Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them. Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?
Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes? You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The President does.
You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.
You and I don’t write the tax code, Congress does.
You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does.
You and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.
One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.
I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.
I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a President to do one cotton-picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.
Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.
What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The President can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.
The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House now? He is the leader of the majority party. He and fellow House members, not the President, can approve any budget they want. If the President vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts — of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can’t think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair.
If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red.
If the Army and Marines are in Iraq and Afghanistan it’s because they want them in Iraq and Afghanistan …
If they do not receive Social Security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it’s because they want it that way.
There are no insoluble government problems.
Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like “the economy,” “inflation,” or “politics” that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.
They, and they alone, have the power.
They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses. Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees…
We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

You are part way right, Carbon Dioxide is a life giving gas to plants, and they convert it into oxygen. It is what humans expell when we breath out.

Michel Peck: Don’t give “enemy” any ammunition by saying that the problem is not carbon,– it never was, and actually carbon is used in fertalizer to make plants grow, carbon (in air),is used by plants through photosynthesis to make oxygen. Even the “idiot libs” admit that, — and we needs an much oxygen as we can get! Only our “fearless leader” thinks carbon is the problem,– unfortunately he is in power though!
Now his attack is on Sulphur, -this is what you smell when driving down the road, – resembles what it would smell like,- if somebody ate sometning pretty bad last night,– and is now “passing gas”! Wonderful huh!! This was introduced when “clean air,-& earth” people started eliminating lead from the planet! We had no “acid rain” before that, because tetraethyl lead was used in gasoline to make it more combustible and “less polluting” — Oddly enough, – just a couple years after it was banned, and country went to “unleaded”– acid rain started falling in Adarondaks in North eastern U.S. – So now sulphur is the bane of existance! … Now we have an EPA which is in control of this stuff! Right now sulphur has to go, – so we ban it in gasoline, (and maybe it won’t make cars run anymore?)– or we “restrict use”!– By the way MTB was used to make gas burn more efficiently, but they had to quit using it because it caused high rate of cancer increase! Higher priced gasoline makes it cost more (along with everything else too), – and the poor-er people drive less,– we reduce the size of cars, so less is required per mile, and people are killed easily, – next will be reduction of highway speed so the cars don’t crash together at such high speeds,.-(theoretically reducing deaths)– For thouse who lived through WW2,- remember the 35 mph speed limits — it saved gas!! It also cut travel to bare minimum, — and lots of peole had to walk everywhere (because it was also rationed,- and “normal folks” got 5 gallons per week)! .. Next issue is coal fired electric generating plants– Those are going to be shut down, — so you can expect possibly 25% or more increase in cost of electricity! — That is if you can get it (and afford the cost increase)!! In past we tore out a lot of the hydro-electric plants, – so the salmon could swim upstream! (Gift of wildlife pundits)! Now no coal plants running will possibly cause as much as 50% less power generated! Another benifit to those that want to restrict and control common folks! Oh yeh! We have solar and wind available now,– but they are “harping” about wind generators hurting birds, and remember Solyndra ( and a couple more looming in background)– these are really efficient,- cheap and will take up slack in a few weeks– right??.. Well we at least have atomic left right?—- WRONG – Atomic is dangerous (and endangers probably less than 5% of total people affected by “dirty” coal fired ones),– And coal plants have been cleaned up a lot in past few years)! Here the probelm is that atomic radiation poisoning shows up quickly, and if severe,- kills quickly… Carbon dust takes many years to become apparent, and many more usually to dehabilitate, or kill! Have to admit that atomic is vastly safer than coal! — But of course don’t expect it to become comon in near future! My advice buy a dehydrator so you can dry your food,– no electric,- very little “lPG referigerators avaliable,–because all the LPG available will probably be used and stored for heat in wintertime! – Or generate elecrtricity??- Grow as much as you can,- (get seeds now, before “quality food act in place- so you can’t buy seeds without permission)– Buy large plots of land – preferably out of town, but close enought to walk in! Now I have no idea how Government will make so much cultivatable land available, because it was all taken out of service when the machine/electronic age replaced the agricultural age Also “there is only so much land”, and the supply of people is unlimited! I have no idea how they will fix this one, but with “wise one” in power, I figure they will do something great— just as before! …. I have watched it all dissapear before my eyes in 72 years!

as for sulpher content. ask yourself this. what country burns the cleanest gasoline. i can tell you its not anywhere in europe. maybe brazil. they burn 100% etanol. but it is just as dirty to burn as gasoline. etanol is unfriendly in cold climates too boot.

MTBE did not cause high rates of cancer. It is not even classified as a human carcinogen. It causes nausea and dizziness upon exposure in fairly high concentrations which doesn’t typically happen. It was banned in California when it got into ground water from leaking tanks, which should have been repaired if California had enforced EPA regs for repairing the tanks. The leaking tanks and pipe were the problem, not the product. After much outcry, political posturing and congressional grandstanding, the product was banned in the U.S. It is still used almost everywhere else in the world. Replacing it has also made gasoline more expensive but no safer. You can thank California, congress and the EPA.

Carbon dioxide is not the problem true enough. Excessive amounts of Nox from burning fuel is a greater problem. The addition of corn alcohol into the mix is causing an uptick in Nox levels and that should be the true issue. Removing sulfur from fuel will help reduce pollution but like the article states it will cost everyone billions upfront. The EPA is not worried about high gas prices because as an environmental agency they support radical environmental issues and want the American people to drive less and use public mass transit over private vehicle transportation.
With Agenda 21 taking over government policies we will see the EPA begin enforcing regulations that will begin to force people to move back to the major cities of the US to obtain work. We will see the government force people out of the countryside so that more land can be converted to wilderness and brought under government control. Fuel regulation is the first in many steps where the government will begin moving the people into major population centers centered around industry and the taking of private land to create their wilderness. So remember every step is just one more down the road where we will be forced to comply with government enforced living standards or face a future where people in the country will find fewer jobs, and our living standard will be reduced till we comply.
Hydrogen is the fuel of the future. If we begin implementing a hydrogen program now, we can get off fossil fuels as our main source of energy, and prserve our right to live where we want and how we want. Government will enforce the EPS’s regulations unless Congress defunds the enforcement process. But don’t hold your breath.

You say the new sulfur regulation is a “small price to pay.” What about all the economic costs that have resulted from the agency’s previous rules and regulations and all the corporate expenses that will come from future rules and regulations–new dictates which are sometimes posted on a weekly basis. The only reason gasoline prices are at their present ridiculously elevated level is because the EPA resists all efforts to allow either offshore drilling or the proposed Canadian pipeline, and stalls such efforts by continually requesting taxpayer-funded environment study on top of environmental study, ad infinitum.
Once the EPA discovered climate change (formerly global warming), they went insane with their new found power. This is not what Richard Nixon had in mind. The new agency was supposed to regulate public health and the environment based on laws already passed by the Congress. Now, we have 17,000 government employees and 27 laboratories designed to uncover anything and every thing that can be used to justify their existence. The EPA is regulating like liberal judges judge. Off the top of their heads.
Consider the fact they only do basic research. They discover an environmental hazard and issue a regulation ordering its removal–a cease and desist immediately order. They do not research the economical cost of eliminating the hazard or the unintended future consequences which could result from their change order.
One other thing, Bugger. The only oil that shows as exported is domestic production that is sent to Trinidad and other locations where American companies have built refineries (something the EPA shut down long ago). It is then reimported to the USA as finished products (gasoline, fuel oil, etc.). Not one cubic inch of natural gas is exported…there are no pipelines.

As I stated earlier hydrogen is the answer to our problem of an energy source that does not pollute. The problem is answering the question of, who owns the water that we will use to produce the hydrogen fuel? How will the government tax the money made from making the fuel? The oil companies are not moving quickly to begin a hydrogen energy program because the government has not answered the question, and until they do it is not profittable to make the change.
The EPA likes its regulations and how they support the enviros need to destroy the oil industry. Pollution is their montra and if hydrogen was made the fuel of the future they would loose an issue in controlling the American people. I for one would start my own industry creating hydrogen fuel but regulation makes it impossible to startup a small company due to the funding necessary to meet them. So government wants to end pollution but regulate the industry to where it is too expensive to begin the process. Makes you wonder which side they are on???

I agree that hydrogen is a good choice as a viable alternative fuel substitute but we are light years from making it a reality. It is an extremely volital gas and can explode on a dime. The infastructure to safely distribute hydrogen is also far into the future but our tax dollars should be going to this rather than greenie electric cars and windmills.
Our best immediate alternative fuel source is natural gas (proven during WW II to work for the Germans) where we have more reserves than Saudi’s have oil. It would keep us independent for over 100 years or until the kinks in hydrgen fuel could be worked out.

First marching on Washington DC has gained nothing to those who have done it in the past. It is pressure form the American people on their local representatives that makes the difference. But since most people do not get involved with their local politicians other than voting them in, we will still have special interests running our government. Politicians never worry about constituents unless they have political power over them. Join your local Tea Party group or your local Republican group. Learn how the political system works and begin putting pressure on our representatives.
We also need to force the issue of establishing a part-time government forcing them to return every 90 days to remain in their local districts working with their people to understand what the people want from them. Congress in the past was a part-time job. They only came together to work on important policies that affected all the people. But our government has become a full-time job because we allowed our government to be centralized in Washington DC were it is made easier for special interests to get their ear. If we dispersed the government back to the states and brought them together only when necessary we would have a more representative government and it would make it harder for special insterests to control Congress. Also making all elections publically funded would remove special interest money. Yes it will cost us some money to get them done but it would also cleanup our election process.
The last thing to say is for Americans to get off their arses and vote. We gripe about our government and then do nothing to change things. We whine about our government representatives and let them be elected by others. And we whine how our vote means nothing but sit on it because the guy who won the nomination is not exactly what we want in a representative. We defeat ourselves and blame others. So get out there and vote for the representative you want as our nominee and then support the one who wins so we can defeat Obama. Other than that don’t conplain.

(95% of global warming gas is water vapour, only 1% of atmosphere is CO2 and from that 1% is only fraction created by people. Yes yes lets not forget the disasters of yesterday, but do we want to convert to the enviro economy overnight??? The EPA is becoming the boggyman for every industry in the US. Yes they protect our enviroment and protect us in the end, but getting to that level is what is important. Rather than pushing people out of business destroying jobs along the way, why can’t the EPA work with industry to make the changes over time??? Mining is a great example. The EPA wants to stop using coal as an energy fuel in electrical power plants, but are not helping industry make the change. They make the demands and then fail to provide a way to comply. Rather than destroying the coal industry and the jobs they provide, why not work towards a time where we convert coal into gas or fuel oil to use in more efficient power plants. Its the all or nothing attitude of the EPA that has them at war with the American people. The enviros who have taken over the agency see their time growing short where they can do as much damage as they can before Obama is defeated and they loose their support for the policies they are forcing down industries throat. Protecting the environment is fine, but destroying our economy while providing no solutions or support for creating those solutions is only going to further our destruction.

That agency needs to be abolished, it is full of people who are power hungry and completely unaccountable. Representatives of the Gulf Power Co. say that the EPA’s new global warming mercury emissions rules could result in the shuttering of three of its current coal-fired power plants and bring higher energy prices to consumers.
According to Gulf Power official Jeff Rogers:
“We won’t know what the impact will be until the new rules come out and we can actually evaluate them. But our feeling is that coal-fired plants would be at risk.”
The new rules could cost Gulf Power up to $2.5 billion and other divisions of the company as much as $18 billion to comply. The 400,000 customers of Gulf Power would see their electricity rates go up.
Gulf Power recently spent $500 billion to build a scrubber plant in Pensacola that removes 80% of oxidized mercury. The new EPA standard could be 90%. The new scrubber plant wasn’t built to remove 90%
If the O’Bama administration is so concerned about mercury emissions, why are we being forced to convert to mercury filled CFL bulbs? These bulbs will end up in landfills where the mercury will leach into rivers, underground aquifers, and eventually into the food chain.

Actually they know exactly what they are doing. This follows their plan to destroy coal as an energy source. The EPA is enforcing regulations writen by the enviro lobby. Obama knows exactly how he will kill the coal industry through regulation. The American people need to vote these people out and the new Congress needs to re-write the EPA regulations dropping those that will destroy our economy. Congress needs to initiate a startup program of 50 billion dollars to establish the hydrogen economy within the next 10 years. If began early enough we can convert to hydrogen as our main fuel source for transportation and energy production and we will reduce pollution overall. Convert our cars, trucks and other combustion engine vehicles to hydrogen and we will see an increase in manufacturing jobs in the US to meet the demand. We will see a decrease in the import of oil from overseas as oil demand goes down, and oil production increases in the US.
We should move away from using oil source products in producing goods for the US. Our clothing and about 90% of otherproducts use oil byproducts to manufacture the goods we use. We fail to recylcle these goods and loose the value we can regain through recycling. Our resources are sparse for certain raw goods and we need to initiate a full out program of recycling at all levels. This will increase jobs in the country while reducing landfill projects around the country. We will never totally get away from landfill use until we develope chemical recycling to its fullest.
America has a history of leading the world in new discoveries and innovations excepted around the world. We need to get back to leading the world rather than following. Obama has allowed the world to dictate to us for to long and the American people need to vote him out and re-establish ourselves as the leaders of the world. One day there will be a “One World Government” and the United States better be leading it or we will just be another state within a state.

I’m a product of apparently what people now call “unclean air”, and it hasn’t killed me. (And, I’m 82.) Radicals like you who believe CLEAN AIR and POLLUTION can kill are probably right if you stand where you are constantly inhailing all the pollution most of the time. However, let’s get real here: the EPA needs to be demolished, and the money that is spent “cleaning up” SOME PARTS of the pollution problem – NOT ALL, BUT SOME – should be spent educating our children in other areas such as science and math and feeding the poor. Eliminate the EPA Education Department, Health and Human Service, DHS, and the IRS go to a flat tax of 10% with no decuations, for both business and individuals. As you get to the point of reducing the sulfur even more, it gets much more difficult. The way you would do it is to use a hydrotreating process that is expensive to build and uses a lot of energy. So, in trade off for lower sulfur, you get more CO2.

Even if the cars were given to the middle class they can not maintain it the batteries cost to much and the average person would destroy them, let me make it just a little farther then I will charge them.You kill a new battery and most of the time they will not recover,that means new batteries and you can almost buy a new car for the price of the batteries. However, that’s part of our BUDGET woes now. We’ve not weeded out what we no longer need, because someone in power seems to not want to let anyone go and tell them there is not a need for their job any longer. Instead, we have just added more and more as well as funding more and more projects. It’s time we figure out what is truly GOOD and BAD for America. You really need to read more, and speak less. What you say is about 99% false. The tax you refer to is much like a capital gains tax and would affect very few of the wealthy home sellers. First a couple would have to make over $250,000 before the tax would possibly kick in. Secondly the tax is on the profits (read capital gains) from the sale. Example: A couple making $250,000 sells their home for a whopping $600,000 PROFIT would owe $3,800 in additional taxes. So, unless you are in that class and can’t see yourself being able to pay $3,800 in taxes on your $600,000 profits, shut up, and quit believing all the spam chain letters.

The house was taxed every year, over and over, since it has existed….and, you think it is okay for the buyers to be taxed on the money that buys the house and it is okay for the owners to be be taxed at the sale! Again, the US EPA makes laws which hurt the US economy in the name of their idol “mother Earth” without explaining what it is that they’ve linked to the additional 10 ppm savings on sulfur. I for one doubt their credibility and any so-called findings they
promote, having worked with that organization on various environmental projects throughout the 1990s. Generally speaking, it’s an unimpressive collection of “professionals” some of whom appear not to care about embracing their so-called mission in a meaningful way. I watched them severely hamstring the “Superfund Innovative Technologies Evaluation” (SITE) program, apparently out of pure boredom with it…a program that could have gone on indefinitely to actively test and employ new technologies to clean up Superfund sites of all different types of media (soil, groundwater, air) far ahead of normal market implementation. Instead of making great progress in actual clean up, it seems to me that the EPA either intentionally or unintentionally slowed everything down, adding an entire extra layer of beaurocracy before allowing either one of the two competing SITE contract winners to begin immediate testing of new methodologies/technologies! This is why I could care less about what they think is a priority! They wouldn’t know real priorities from unimportant ones – only the ones which are politically desirable. With regard to real priorities, they seem inept. The whole group should be re-organized, their power stripped, and the current director fired. (In my opinion, the director should have been fired the day she promoted the notion of carbon dioxided being labelled a “Priority Pollutant”. Shame on these moron impersonators! Their actions seem more akin to rudderless, clueless, and obfuscating tree-huggers!

Well, that sounds good, in fact, almost Republican, but let’s look into it: the Washington Times (2/10/10) reported that the average amount of Federal employees from 1981 – 2008 was 1.1 million. Presently, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (7/15/11) it’s 2 million, almost double since 2008, Nancy Pelosi says that 1000 to 2000 jobs will be eliminated and we can save 3 billion over 10 years. That’s good, too, but just how much stimulus money did it cost to create Obama’s almost 1 million Federal jobs? It worries me when President Obama asks for more “power,” and Nancy Pelosi seconds the motion.

I have a copy of CIVIL AIR REGULATIONS 1043 edition, It has seventy pages including charts graphs and pictures to explane the regs.
The latest copy I have in book form is 2007. it contains 326 pages of regs,and then a secound section called the Airmans information manual to explane the regs, For a total of 704 pages.

This is more unnecessary duplication and infringement on States rights with no benefits to clean air or water. The minor cross state border pollution issues could be addressed by multistate compacts and the Commerce Department. Use the savings to cut the debt.

Every federal department should be no more than 10 people. Their ONLY job would be to monitor, gather data, and “advise” the cabinet. They should have absolutely NO control over anybody. Their function is NOT in the constitution and thus have no say, other than advisement. Data gathering, monitoring only!!!! Then, if they didn’t even do THAT job well, they should be shut down. Congress and the president do need actual facts. They cannot do their jobs right with incorrect data. Lets assume everything the Greenies say about Global Warming is true and soon all our cities will be flooded as the Ice Caps melt due to rising CO2 levels. In that case, shouldn’t Environmentalists be backing these three proposals:
1) Why not build levees around our costal cities? Us folks inland will donate the dirt and broken concrete from our construction projects. The Government only has to pay to have railroads (the cheapest form of land transport) haul it to costal cities. And then you guys dump it out wherever you think best until your cities are protected by levees 300 feet high and a thousand feet wide. You can cover them with grass and trees and on the ocean side have a nice sandy beach and you can line the top with a bunch of windmills.
2) Why not plant a tree that will take in carbon dioxide in the corner of every parking stall? Nobody parks within a foot of the corner of the parking stall anyway. In the winter when the parking lot is covered with snow you’ll still be able to see where the parking stalls are at. In the summer you’ll be able to park your car in the shade and instead of a blazing hot trek across an oven-hot parking lot you can enjoy a nice stroll in the shade watching squirrels scamper and listening to the birds singing in the trees and you wash your car every week anyway.
3) Why not plant vines in planters outside the window of every skyscraper? These will restore the green environment lost to the city and the vines will take in CO2 from all the cars on the street and so stop air pollution at it’s source.
Do feel free to copy these proposals and post them elsewhere. For some reason Liberals freak out about these practical, perfectly reasonable, commonsense solutions and call them the stupidest things they ever heard.

As of September 2007 the EPA employees 17,000 people. They have to justify these stupid regulations in order to pay for all the crap they think up plus pay the wages for all the pencil pushers. The EPA is just another cash cow that is lobbied very hard in Washington. Their regulation increase the cost of some projects as much as 30-50%. All they do is cost the tax payers more money.

I do construction and the EPA has its claws in our business too. They passed a law requiring builders to become certified and licensed to do any type of remodeling or repairs on older homes from 1978 and earlier due to the possibility of lead paint being present. This is a cost of several thousand dollars investment due to the required equipment to contain the lead paint dust. This is known as the LRRP Act… If a builder doesn’t cross the t’s and dot the i’s, it can cost LOTS of money in fines, upwards of $35,000 per infraction. It has put a stop to lots small construction firms doing construction on older homes. It is just a tax that they put out there to get more money out of our pockets. This is probably not important to most of you, but I just wanted to show another way the EPA is infringing on our lives.

DEKA,they make all kinds of batteries, is laying off production people in this area because of environmental regulations. They’re moving to S Korea. Of course thats just a rumor as two young men I know are now at home collecting unemployment. So we can’t build the batteries here,and we’re shutting down coal fired power plants all in the name of the environment. We also had 30 windmills shut down because of an endangered bat was found dead at one. We’re told we can’t drill for natural gas because of the damage to the environment. I can keep adding to this list and I’m only writing about what’s going on in Pennsylvania. There’s a lot more! I’ve never in my life have I been polled nor do I or my wife know anyone who was ever polled. However when we go to the ag store for chicken feed, which has gone up $5 a 50 pound bag in the last year, and listen to people when we’re checking out. We hear anger, people are pissed. Unless there’s major voter fraud, if they thought 2010 was a blood bath for the Dems, 2012 will surely be a massacre.

This financial windfall would provide the $ $ $ to repay our incredible tab to China.
If what stated above is factual, (and it is); why then are we continuing to pay top dollar prices for crude oil from folks who hate our National Guts that are half a World away.

When the EPA enforced new sulfur standards on diesel fuel in 2007, my cash cost per mile of operation increased by 35%. This was due to a combination of the increased cash cost of fuel, now $0.50 per gallon higher, and the loss in efficiency of the fuel, translated into lower miles per gallon. Here we go,rant time. The cost of a barrel of oil that is not 55gals any more since the first gas crunch back in the 80s goes up in the SAND BOX market in Africa. Why should it jump in our country with our own product we produce and export fuel. The price does not go up at the pumps in Mexico or Venezuela or Australia. ?? And yes the govs do own the first two. Now as for the gas and diesel. The gov of America has come up with a way to tax and offset the fuel MPG to make it less efficient to get less MPG per gallon by adding bio and alcohol to the fuels.You have to buy more fuel to get the miles you would get WITHOUT IT, Keeping the tax coffers up there. Even tho we have more cars the better MPG has offset the gallons used in the US and it is said that 40% of the people do not pay fed tax,fuzzy math again,tax on gas,fed and state phone bill ,fed and state. On and on they tax. The EPA has forced the Fuel Companies to change the makeup so that even the shelf life has been cut 60%or more never mind what happens to the motors when it sits around and gums up and breaks down the works. Ask any mechanic, like it was back in the early 80s when they put Alcohol in the gas ,at 3 dollare subsidised and 4 dollars taxed as ATF tax to produsers, but nobody noticed for they were changing to NO LEAD and how many years did it take for Child lead poisoning to just START to go down over ten years kiddies. How many cars are left around running with the original motors during the no lead change over, what a wind fall for the mechanics and car dealers remember……. Have you checked your gas, electric and water bills lately and compared them to what you had to pay in 2008? You can bet the farm that money isn’t going to fund alternative energy research. As in any other large industry, fracking has problems but those problems can be solved. Many thousands of jobs can be created. We can become energy independent and stop the transfer of unbelievable wealth from America to the stone age countries that want to cause us harm.
Industry runs on energy. We can not run our industry when the cost of energy is as high as it is today. Most Americans today have to make decisions around the cost of fuel; Can I buy fuel and take the family on a short road trip or spend the money for food or clothes?

Individual States of the Union should have the responsibility to control their own environment as a health safety measure and at a minimal cost to the people.

Sulfur has already been reduced in gasoline to next to nothing. The EPA is eeking to reduce it to nothing. the problem with that has to do with the Law of Diminishing returns. The cost to reduce it further is far greater than and benefit obtained for doing so. The same resources – money- that would be spent reducing this last remaining sulfur in gasoline would be far more beneificially spent elsewhere that would reduce carbon consumption by far greater quantities. One such expenditure would be building a rebreeder plant to recycle spent nuclear fuel rods. If you recycle the fuel rods, you don’t have to store them. You solve the bulk of the storage problem by recycling the fuel rods. This also reduces the cost of new fuel rods and lowers the cost of production of electricity. Simple market forces explain that the more abundant and the cheaper electricity is, the less we would use carbon based energy. It’s a no brainer to any but the anti-nuke crowd.

The EPA, along with just about every government regulation agency does what they are lobbied to do by the corresponding corporate interests. When you hear an industry replying to consumer complaints about rising prices by blaming it on government regulations, you can be almost certain that that agency is covertly acting in the interest of the corporation being regulated. Most of the time this boils down to mnaking regulations so stringent that any potential competition to the existing big boys cannot afford to get started.
It is not only the EPA and agencies like it which need to be banned. State sposored corporatism needs to be banned and we need a return to real free market enterprise where true competition will force the industries to cater to consumers rather than controlling them by eliminating choices.

Speculators are the driving force of all commodity prices, including the price of gasoline. The EPA proposed regulations are focused on a real problem that has many competing answers. Finding the right mix of alternatives is a trial and error process. The EPA has proven itself valuable time and again in protecting our water supplies and air quality and in creating jobs to meet industry requirements. If you question that then ask manufacturing companies who are still located here because the water supply is free of many pollutants that would make their production impossible in other less regulated locations. Meeting regulatory requirements can create real middle class jobs instead of the fighting of regulations which only benefit wealthy law firms.

I am on a fixed income, not by my choice, but by health reasons and I am so sick of hearing the plight of the “middle class” in this country. I don’t remember anybody telling me I was owed anything by anyone when I came into this world. The bottom line: the EPA couldn’t give a crap about anything but their agenda and I hope if we ever have a president with guts and conviction, he would see fit to put the EPA on the department chopping block pronto!

Of course they will raise prices. That’s the whole purpose. Obama and the EPA want to jack up energy prices to force people to quit using as much energy as possible. They are saving the planet, don’t you see? The fact that consumers are hurt by their policy doesn’t matter. The fact that businesses are also hurt and jobs lost doesn’t matter either. The fact that the economy will be damaged further doesn’t matter. When you are a dedicated ideologue as Obama and Lisa Jackson are, who gets hurt by nutty policy doesn’t matter. In a recent email, I read about a woman named Pam, who knows the pain of considering abortion. More than 24 years ago, she and her husband Bob were serving as missionaries to the Philippines and praying for a fifth child.
Pam contracted amoebic dysentery, an infection of the intestine caused by a parasite found in contaminated food or drink. She went into a coma and was treated with strong antibiotics before they discovered she was
pregnant.
Doctors urged her to abort the baby for her own safety and told her that
the medicines had caused irreversible damage to her baby. She refused the abortion and cited her Christian faith as the reason for her hope that her son would be born without the devastating disabilities physicians
predicted. Pam said the doctors didn’t think of it as a life, they thought
of it as a mass of fetal tissue.
While pregnant, Pam nearly lost their baby four times but refused to
consider abortion. She recalled making a pledge to God with her husband: If you will give us a son, we’ll name him Timothy and we’ll make him a preacher.
Pam ultimately spent the last two months of her pregnancy in bed and
eventually gave birth to a healthy baby boy August 14, 1987. Pam’s
youngest son is indeed a preacher. He preaches in prisons, makes hospital visits, and serves with his father’s ministry in the Philippines. He also plays football. Pam’s son is Tim Tebow.
The University of Florida’s star quarterback became the first sophomore in history to win college football’s highest award, the Heisman Trophy. His current role as quarterback of the Denver Broncos has provided an incredible platform for Christian witness. As a result, he is being called The Mile-High Messiah.

Under the Obama regime energy prices have doubled and they continue to rise. Big whoop a $40 tax break that further makes Social Security a faster dieing failure how about getting gas and energy prices back to a reasonable price. I would have $500.00 a month more for my family to spend if it weren’t for Obama, Pelosi and Reid.

I only see the EPA as an arm of the Machiavellian agenda being promulgated by the Obama administration. In the Progressive’s war on fossil fuels they have overlooked one important truth. We do not have a viable alternative at this point in time to fossil fuels (natural gas, fuel oil, gasoline, and coal), yet they continue to punish the producers and users of the fossil fuels in an unrelenting manner, even though there is no viable alternative. It’s like banning the consumption of water because we instead need it to grow the food that we survive on. Of course we know we can’t survive without water, but that evidently to the “greens” is simply irrelevant. The effect their rulings and policies are having on our pocket books, and our economy are devastating, yet they continue on unabated in their drive to acquiesce to the Green agenda. In life there is such a thing as moderation, and it’s a rather effective agenda to follow. The Left needs to come to the realization that man and the environment can co-exist, it doesn’t have to be One or the Other. We’ve all seen examples of the simply ludicrous rulings by the EPA, which now are telling private individuals what they can do with their own private property. In addition their policies are having a detrimental effect on our economy. For example the hwy. project that was shut down for two years because it was in a type of area in which a particular type of “endangered flower might grow”. Now mind you it had never been found anywhere in the vicinity of the project, but it was an area where it might be able to grow, or how about California’s Juaquin Valley which was turned into a dessert because of an endangered smelt (small fish) that was found in the Sacramento River. So what was their solution, they shut off the irrigation water to what was called the bread basket of the U.S. and in so doing put roughly 20,000 workers out of a job, and cause the devastation of the Valley’s economy, let alone the effect on produce nation wide. Now we can buy tainted vegetables from Mexico, Brazil, and China. Just wonderful alternatives to domestically produced food stuffs. This insanity must stop, or we’re doomed to become nothing more than the administration’s pawns in his drive towards a Green World, let by his machinations via his own little cabal or Oligarchy.

Once the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) pushed an open-ended law (its own Clean Air Act) through a Democrat House and Senate in 2009, the agency had all the power it needed to do almost anything it wanted to do. (Much like the elephant who can “sit anywhere it wishes” in the bar.) Since it was Congress that mandated their efforts, under constitutional law, they were home free. Anybody out there who does not think Barack “Barry Soetoro” (aka Harrison J. Bounel) Hussein Obama, II, the Muslim liar-in-chief, campaigner-in-chief, fund-raiser-in-chief, golfer-in-chief, arrogant elitist and superficially documented presidential candidate, and his administration academics know how to use and abuse the United States Constitution, then you better go back to college and study political science for at least “four more years.”
