Santorum calls on voters to defy media, give him another look

A day after getting trounced in his third consecutive primary, Rick Santorum lashed out at his leading Republican presidential rivals Wednesday and urged the party’s rank and file to ignore media pundits who cast Mitt Romney as the inevitable nominee.

The former Pennsylvania senator compared himself to Ronald Reagan battling his image as a conservative “radical” in the 1980 presidential race, but going on to win the Republican nomination and unseat the Democratic incumbent.

“Ladies and gentlemen, here in Colorado, you’ve got to stand up and put some sanity back in this race,” Santorum told a breakfast gathering of the Arapahoe County Republican Men’s Club at a Mexican restaurant in Denver. “You’ve got to stand up and ignore all of this inevitability and say we want somebody who can actually voice our values.”

1, Read the 5000 year leap. There is hope. This is a great book about the Constitution. The book empowers you and gave me hope. The Constitution was meant to protect us now. But we all need to engage it’s power.
2.God said he will heal land if we move back to him,and that makes a lot of sence. We need to move back to good.
3.God gave us all the world and Heavens his natural laws to live in. God gave us his Son to free our Sins. God gave us the Ten Commandments for man to live by. God gave us these things so he could give us two more things. His Grace and our Freedom. The more we move away from these Laws, the more we move into Evils arms. Natural laws keep us from going any other way. If we don’t stay with what is good then we move toward what is bad.
Putting people who are known Socialist or Marxist, or Communist. in government position as Obama has, is against your Oath of Office. Has he not endangered America and our Constitution???

Norman Thomas, a U.S. Socialist Party candidate for president, once famously said, “The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” Thomas ran for president six consecutive times from 1928,only to lose to Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Roosevelt introduced most of the planks of the Communist Manifesto and we live with them to this day.

Have his followers in Congress, also committed Treason? Is it time we put them behind bars???

    • http://bobk90.wordpress.com Bobby

Rick Santorum is nothing but the Republican Extablishments ‘Little’ Biiaaaatch and is a Conservative as much as Barney Frank of MA was in the House or Chris Todd in the Senate! The Man not only looks like a WEASEL but is one if you would take the time to look at his record supporting Lobbyist and when lost reelection he went right to work for same making a 6 Figure Income!!

      • Rory Trup

Nuts! Santorum is to good for most Americans these days. Without a religious population, based on biblical values, there is no hope. In God We Trust is the real deal. Look at liberal/Godless population centers like here in California. We can no longer afford the cost of maintaining our prisons let alone cover medical expenses. For example drug and alchohol related treatments, add expenses covering 35 STD’s plus HIV and Aids and other endless expenses to cover retail stores from shoplifting, the Internet from hackers and on and on. If America had more people humbly following the 10 Commandments and Jesus’s advise we could be happy again. I rest my case. Peace

    • awakenow

Really? I guess you must then believe, as Santorum does, that Conservatism means one should tell others what to do in the privacy of their own bedrooms and that the freedom to self-govern is wrong?

Guess you have no problem with Santorum’s support for the spying on Americans act, the so-called “Patriot” Act? The same Patriot Act that is the mother to the NDAA, National Defense Authorization Act giving Obama the authority to call you a terrorist, arrest and throw you in jail and keep you there indefinitely … without the right to trial and due process??

I guess you also believe we should continue to spit on the Constitution, the Founders, by starting one undeclared and unconstitutional (bankrupting) war after another, without a formal declaration of war by Congress?

You must also believe that voting for debt ceiling increases (unpaid for) which allow the government to keep growing itself with money we don’t have, which will cause our economy to eventually collapse, is the right thing to do?

Sounds like you also agree that Santorum did the right thing in backing the big spender, Arlen Spector, from his own state of Pennsylvania against the conservative trying to stop the insane spending of Spector … Sen. Pat Toomey?

And, what about those labor union votes by Santorum? On board with that, are you?

Santorum is just another Big Brother Government lover who wraps himself in the flag and the Constitution when it suits his purpose … which is to fool enough conservatives into believing that he actually believes in the Constitution, small limited federal governance and its authority over We The People and individual freedoms.

The Constitution is dead and guys like Rick Santorum helped dig its grave.

      • Greg F

Who cares what you do in your bedroom,——– PERVERT! Jibber jabber on!

        • awakenow

GregF, apparently you misread my post. I’m trying to say that as a conservative and someone who believes in the individual freedom the Constitution gives us, I don’t care what anyone does in the privacy of their own bedroom.

          It’s none of my business.

      • mpkgirl

Funny, everything you describe is the liberals fantasy. Liberals want to grow government. Liberals want to tell you what to do in your own home. Liberals keep approving raising the dent ceiling. Hmmm, me thinks you’re a liberal!

      • Larry Larsen

With the latest National Defense Authorization Act, 9 ( Authorized into law by Obama ) the military can indefinitely detain without trial any U.S. citizen deemed to be a terrorist or an accessory to terrorism.
        IS THIS NOT TREASON,
Obama has broken his Oath to defend the Constitution. “No president,” said the ACLU, “should have the power to declare the entire globe a war zone and then seize and detain civilian terrorism suspects anywhere in the world—including within the United States—and to hold them forever without charge or trial.”
The words I’m saying would be all they need to call me a Combatant and throw me in jail, for life. No one is safe.
THESE ACT’S of OBAMA ARE UNCONSTITUTIONAL AND BORDERING ON TOTALITARIANISM.
        Treason
        1. A crime that undermines the offender’s government.
        2. Disloyalty by virtue of subversive behavior.
        3. An act of deliberate betrayal.

1:Undermine: Destroy or hinder normal operations.
2:Subversive: A radical supporter of Political or Social Revolution.
3:Betrayal:To cause anguish to a Ally.
:The Quality of aiding an Enemy.

I call on all the Military Generals to mutiny and save the citizens from this sinking ship. Some in Congress and lead by Obama have put America in Unbelievable danger. This is completely wrong and Unconstitutional. We know Obama thinks the Constitution is fundamentally flawed. That alone is treason. It looks like he is doing this deliberately in an attempt to crash our economy and move us toward a Marxism economy.
Every thing Obama does, the things he has said, his Communist parents and his Uncle in Hawaii,a Known member of the Communist Party, the “the most Liberal professors Obama he could find” the friends he keeps, his hard left czars and Judge’s he has picked, all point to Socialism. A UN led One world Government.
He is the leader, but to who’s country?

My question is this, has Obama and all of the known Marx beliveing followers in Congress committed Treason, and how can we put them behind bars.
Isn’t it time for the Military Generals to mutiny and save the citizens from this sinking ship. I know Obama is the leader of the Military ” MAYBE” It’s everybody’s Constitutional Duty to know who leads us” but lets face it,he blocks that info. He is a failure and runs opposite Of God,the Constitution, and the safety of her American citizens. Where are the Generals who are supposed to protect America and her people. Our Government has been taken over by Marxism. The True American has little power to move on this.We need your help. We can Pray for your safety { a lot of us already do} But you do have the biggest guns…

“I believe,” warned James Madison in a speech to the Virginia Convention on June 16, 1788, “there are more instances of the abridgement of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations.”

Surely, this is the story behind the New Year’s Eve, 2011, signing by President Obama of the National Defense Authorization Act(NDAA). While they were merry-making and tootling horns, NDAA stripped Americans of the last vestiges of their liberties. Now that President Obama can order the military to arrest and imprison you indefinitely on suspicion without trial, your First Amendment rights of speech, press, assembly, and petition have no meaning. Who are you going to assemble with from your jail cell?

NDAA is only the most recent chapter in a creeping totalitarian horror story going back decades. President Harry Truman vetoed the Internal Security Act of 1950 that codified indefinite detention without trial but his veto was overturned by Congress. Truman called the Act “the greatest danger to freedom of speech, press, and assembly since the Alien and Sedition Laws of 1798, a “mockery of the Bill of Rights” and a “long step toward totalitarianism.”

That Act, a.k.a. the McCarran-Walter Act, was aimed at the Communist Party of the United States and authorized incarceration of those who would “probably engage in espionage or sabotage.” At the time it would have been difficult to think of any example of any known U.S. Communist Party member anywhere engaging in sabotage. By contrast, it was about the same time the CIA was getting off to a jump start at overthrowing foreign governments by force and violence.

Under the Act, prominent individuals considered subversive were barred entry to the United States, limiting the free speech of American citizens. Among them: Argentine novelist Julio Cortazar, Colombian novelist Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, and British novelist Graham Greene, Wikipedia recalls.

Totalitarianism continued its creep despite the objections of Senator George McGovern of South Dakota in 1970, who vainly blasted the “no knock” ordinance Congress pressed down upon that occupied territory known as the District of Columbia. This law allowed police to bust into any dwelling without a court order. McGovern referred to it as the Big Brother Act, pointing out that “your home is no longer your castle and your liberties are no longer your own.” That was but one small foretaste of today’s police state powers.

In 1978, President Jimmy Carter signed into law the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act(FISA) that violated the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. It set up the FISA Court, and later the FISA Court of Review, true “Star Chambers” that international law Professor Francis Boyle of the University of Illinois says “are nothing more than rubber stamps for government requests for unconstitutional surveillance on U.S. citizens.”

“With the FISA Amendments Act approved by Obama,” Boyle continues, “there is nothing left of the Fourth Amendment that protects ‘The right of people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures.’ I do not understand how any self-respecting U.S. Federal Judge can serve on the FISA Court and the FISA Court of Review and actively participate in the interment of the Fourth Amendment.”

According to Boyle, “After the “draconian Anti-terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act(AEDPA) passed by Congress in 1996 in reaction to the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, there was no legitimate law enforcement need for the Patriot Act.” Among other things, the AEDPA drastically limited the right of inmates to appeal their death sentences.

Enactment of the Patriot Act of 2003, rushed through Congress after 9/11 and since renewed at leisure, opened the spillways of totalitarianism to flood an entire nation. “From the gagging of our nation’s librarians under the national security letter statute to the gutting of time-honored surveillance laws, the Patriot Act has been disastrous for Americans’ rights,” said Caroline Fredrickson, Director of the ACLU’s Washington office.

“In the panic following the events of 9/11, our nation’s lawmakers hastily expanded the government’s authority to a dangerous level and opened a Pandora’s box of surveillance,” she cautioned in a statement on ACLU’s web site.

Amazingly, there has been scant public outcry condemning these government actions. Few Americans objected when President Obama in March, 2011, by executive order decreed Guantanamo detainees could be held indefinitely—a policy that NDAA now applies to American citizens under the NDAA.

“No president,” said the ACLU, “should have the power to declare the entire globe a war zone and then seize and detain civilian terrorism suspects anywhere in the world—including within the United States—and to hold them forever without charge or trial.”

“By signing this defense spending bill(NDAA), President Obama will go down in history as the president who enshrined indefinite detention without trial in US law,” said Kenneth Roth, executive director of Human Rights Watch. “In the past, Obama has lauded the importance of being on the right side of history, but today he is definitely on the wrong side.”

“This amounts to the repeal of the U.S. Constitution,” Roth said, adding, “We have a Republican Party that is a Gestapo Party—to arrest American citizens and put them in concentration camps.” (Author’s note: NDAA could not have passed without the strong support of Democratic lawmakers.)

Roth goes on to say: “The (NDAA) law replaces an effective system of civilian-court prosecutions with a system that has generated the kind of global outrage that would delight recruiters of terrorists.”

With the NDAA, America has now returned to the disgraceful Korematsu Era, when President Roosevelt ordered the military to round up law-abiding Japanese-American citizens and stick them in concentration camps for the duration of World War II.

“By comparison,” Boyle says, “there is no end in sight to the bogus U.S. war on terrorism. The United States Supreme Court has never overruled the Korematsu case. And as a teacher of constitutional law, President Obama is fully aware of this loaded-gun that he now has in his hands waiting to fire on the American people by means of the NDAA.”

Boyle also warns that the NDAA, coupled with the notorious Pentagon and CIA “murder lists,” means President Obama could now start CIA and Joint Special Operations Command(JSOC) death squads and/or disappearance squads to render American citizens to Guantanamo Bay prison or abroad “for torture and murder.”

If most Americans are unfamiliar with JSOC, perhaps that’s because it operates in secret. That this menacing terror law has been enacted, like the unconstitutional laws that preceded it, with barely a murmur of outrage, speaks volumes about the manner in which the repressive aspects of these laws have been hidden from the general public. It also reflects on the indifference of the American people to the incineration of their once cherished civil liberties on the bonfires of totalitarianism.

You can’t say James Madison didn’t warn us in 1788.

      Romney is very bad..

    • Sarah Says

I believe in putting your money where your mouth is. If all the conservatives, Tea Party Members etc put up at least one dollar, that would amount to a lot of money for Rick Santorum and his campaign. We can do this if we all unify. Rick is right, we need to defy the media. The heck with them, they are not trustworthy one iota. They are not on our side and not interested in what we want, but their own interests. Let’s ignore what they say and roll up our sleeves and get to work. We can do this!

Quick queston….will the Democrats run someone else if Nomoral can’t be on all states ballots? If Georgia upholds their state constitution and Nomoral is not on the Georgia ballot I look for other states to follow suit.

Saying Rick is a RINO is like calling Obama a centrist. People keep trying to ignore the evidence. No on Global Warming. No on TARP. Yes on Drilling in ANWR. No on abortion. By the way, every time. Yes on conservative judges (one of to acts held against him for supporting the turncoat Specter). An oops on NCLB. How many oops are we letting Romneycare and Gingrich social positions get away with. Oh, he did vote how his constituents wanted him to on NLRB. We wouldn’t want an elected Representative deliver on promises he made on his campaign. He has publicly stated that he is for Right to Work and would sign legislation that included Right to Work laws. If that is a RINO, then what do we call Romney and Gingrich at various times in their careers? Let us be honest. Rick is no RINO.

  • M Carlson

Santorum is the most dangerous candidate of all. His only platform is his narrow intolerant restrictive religious agenda which he would start to impose on all of us the day hw would be sworn in. He is a good but misdirected soul who would have been a good clergyman. His sole objective is to abolish birth control and restrict social choices for all. He scares the hell out of me and I am no liberal but a 65 yr. old conservative.

    • Ruth Bacon

You don’t sound like a true conservative. Birth control and other so-called “social choices” are no part of Constitutional government, and it has no business edicting for or against personal choices of any individual. Yes, there is a need for control, but the instructions for that are in the Bible, through faith, through family, proper education, and even reason and method for punishment, but it has absolutely nothing to do with a federal government. The writers of our Constitution stated it would not work without Christian principles – a goal of Marxism is to do away with religion.

      • awakenow

Since when does being a conservative mean we should peer into people’s bedrooms and tell them what to do?

Since when does being a conservative mean you must do what I tell you to do because only my way is the right way? That you do not have the right to live your life the way you want to, to self-govern is wrong and you must submit to the authority of others?

Since when is being conservative about violating and spitting on our Constitution and the central and most important belief by the Founders that individual liberty is paramount?

Santorum is for imposing “his belief system of social controls” on the individual and he would use the federal government to do just that. And, as you said, there is no place in the Constitution that allows for that.

        • nofollower

Santorum is not for imposing his ‘belief system of social controls’ – whatever you mean by that. He is a man of faith who lives his faith and is not ashamed to do so. What he would do is to stop the liberal agenda from ‘imposing’ itself on the rest of the country, to stop the liberal agenda of ‘imposing’ it’s beliefs’ on the rest of the country. He would make it once again the parents decision when and how much ‘sex ed’ their children would have, make sure the liberal ‘social agenda’ is not crammed down our throats and that the liberal ‘social agenda and beliefs’ are not what dictate what becomes law and what laws may be enforced. There is nothing wrong with a person living their faith, it is to be admired. Are you worried that we may once again find our moral compass in this country?

    • Ruth Bacon

Incidentally, it is sad that so many people feel as you do, that he could not win against Obama because he is a Christian conservative, and you are afraid of him. I am sick and tired of the media telling me which RINO I should be rooting for.
I truly wish that Santorum could somehow surge ahead and that Christians and non-Christians alike would see that he is our best answer to save our republic with limited, fiscally responsible, Constitutional, free market ideology.

  • Earthangel

First of all, Obama got elected in 2008 by default, because the Republicans couldn’t come up with a strong candidate (and then, to make it worse, proposed a VP running-mate who was totally unknown). Let’s not let that happen again! Rick Santorum is the best of the proposed candidates (BTW: Kudos to Michelle Malkin, who endorsed Rick today!!!) Imagine what would happen if Rick would run with Ron Paul as his VP!!! Meanwhile, I think the $1.00 (or more) campaign is a GREAT idea!!!! Let’s

    • 57 girl

If we want our Sovereignty back, the best ticket for America would be Ron Paul/ANDREW Napolitanto. I have no doubt with those two in the top spots, we’d see the return to Constitutional Law and the demise of such travesties as the TSA, the NDAA, a slew of Czars, etc. Our troops would come home to protect our borders, and the Federal Government would be cut down to size. And you know those thieves that own and operate the Federal Reserve would be running for shelter. I hope the people aren’t stupid enough to fall for the major media mind tricks again this time around, although, Florida has me believing that will be the case. No wonder America is going down the tubes. The people are too stupid and lazy to do their own research.

  • Marc Jeric

Please somebody explain this to me: 160 years of Marxism has invaribaly shown wherever it has been put in practice to result in 1) terror; 2) utter poverty; and 3) mass murder. So why is Obama’s government all for it? And why are our university professors, Democrat Party, and Hollywood stars for it? Why are the NY Times and Wash. Post pundits for it? Why are the commentators of ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, NPR, PBS for it?

    • Ruth Bacon

      1. They have been brainwashed (in part by public education).
      2. They believe they will be part of the elite few who will have all the power and money.
      3. They are being paid to push the Marxist agenda.
      4. They or their families have been threatened if they do not adhere.
      5. Or they are sheeple, who don’t pay any attention to what is happening – they just listen to all of the above.

Some people just like to throw trash around, they can hide behind made up names and say anything they want. Just figure it was some liberal or a so called republican (liberal in disguise, really).

Could anyone be worse than Obama??? I think not! And not voting is giving the election to Obama. Let’s not allow that to happen!

  • Peggy

Rick Santorum does not try to change how you feel about your religion. He simply is Honest about how he feels about his.
How many do you know that will do that.
He firmly believes in the Constitution and will govern based on it. We shouldn’t be voting on his personality but rather on what he believes on the issues we all care about. To me, he seems the most honest and the best of the three to go up against Obama.. There is so much to go after Obama for and very little Obama can say about him. He will surely defeat Obama and the US will be left to go forward with a true Conservative..the $1 campaign is a Great idea..I just donated $5 as I am one of the people who currently has no job…If you can afford $1,and we all can,do it and I think we may just start our Country heading in the right direction..God Bless the USA!!

I think the GOP has chosen their puppet picks to keep the NWO torch burning. And I’m sure, judging from past elections, the sheep of this Nation will bury their heads in the sand for the most part and think they really do have only two choices. I am going to be voting my conscience. I will be voting for Ron Paul, although I’d look at Santorum before I would ever give either Newt or Romney my vote. Hopefully, the States will follow Georgia’s lead and attempt to strike Obama from the ballot altogether. Keep in mind if Gingrich or Romney win the White House, we will be in for a potential 8 years of CFR leadership, rather than 4 if Obama were to win again. We are surrounded by ‘evils’.

Santorum is great. Newt and Romney are also likely to be Christian friendly. Without a religious population, based on biblical values, there is no hope for America. In God We Trust is the real deal. Look at liberal/Godless population centers like here in California. We can no longer afford the cost of maintaining our prisons, police and judges. Then add medical expenses due to bad behavior. For example drug and alchohol related treatments (include homelessness issues), add expenses covering 35 STD’s plus HIV and Aids and other endless expenses to cover retail stores from shoplifting, the Internet from hackers, protection from rapers, robbers and murders and on and on. If America had more people humbly following the 10 Commandments and Jesus’s advise we could be happy again without the expense. I rest my case. Peace

I absolutely agree that Santorum should be given a look. All we seem to hear from the media is Mitt, newt, Mitt, newt – enough already. It is as though the media has already made up their minds and they are going to push the candidate of choice on us – even though they keep playing one against the other just to have something to talk about. if we really want a conservative with firm values who has no ‘special interest’ groups to answer to, no worries about skeletons in his closet, no worries about financial problems (he is worth the least of all of the candidates), just firm values, faith, family and keeping government out of our lives — what is not to like? I certainly hope he does well in the next few states and even takes the lead a time or two so that the media can not ignore him and more people will get to hear about him. Unfortunately, there a lots of people who don’t research candidates and only know what they hear from the media – so if they hear nothing about a candidate, they bypass them.
It is about time we let the media know they can not dictate to us and we will choose our own candidate – for me, Santorum is it.

Looking looking, looking. Sorry I just can not get past his anti-Americanism expressed here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Gwwmm-cQxU&feature=player_embedded

He OPPOSES a government that leaves us alone, is small, has low taxes and regulations. HE MISSES THE ENTIRE CORE VALUES OF THIS NATION. And he is Conservative?????

And I looked again and I found this:

Nope, trying real hard but I still can not pull the trigger for a dishonest Neocon torturing warmongering rights violating, assassination approving police state supporting lobbyist. But maybe I will look again….. or not.
