Anti-Gun Group Begins “Brew Not Bullets” Starbucks Boycott

Print Friendly

As promised, an anti-gun group began a boycott of Starbucks on Valentine’s Day over the chain’s gun policy — or rather, its lack of a gun policy.

The CEO of the National Gun Victims Action Council (NGAC) said he tried to avoid the “Brew Not Bullets” boycott, but Starbucks would not budge on its stance.

“The boycott will end only when Starbucks rejects the NRA’s Pro-Gun agenda by 1) banning all guns from their stores and 2) committing to be an Aggressive Corporate Advocate for sane gun laws,” NGAC CEO Elliot Fineman said in a news release.

Starbucks’ gun policy is simply that is abides by local laws, saying “In the end, we determined that following local laws is the best approach for us. Were we to adopt a policy different from local laws allowing open carry, we would be forced to require our partners to ask law abiding customers to leave our stores.”

But Fineman isn’t buying that explanation.

“As local laws also allow them to ban guns, they expose their real position which has nothing to do with local laws; the fact is that Starbucks supports the NRA’s lethal Pro-Gun Agenda,” he said.

The National Gun Victims Action Council is full if it!! Remember the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution? It gives all law-abiding Americans the God-given right to “keep and bear arms.” We all have a God-given right to defend ourselves. Go ahead, boycott Starbucks, but we true Americans and the NRA will give our business to Starbucks 100 times over and we’ll tell our friends and families to do the same. Guns do not kill people. People kill people. And it’s a known fact that most criminals are more inclined to enter a house or business that is unarmed. A house or business that is armed deters criminals. Good for Starbucks, why let these idiots try to change policy if the Company refused to change it. Let them get their coffee somewhere else if they don’t like it. They are probably being paid by Obuma to protest there.

    • USAF VET

I don’t go to Starbucks outlets, and don’t purchase their coffee due to the fact that their coffee is no better than any other, and I brew a lot better cup of coffee than they do, so all you are paying for is the name. Saying that, I may just start going to the nearest Starbucks outlet and start an unboycott of my own just because of these idiot who don’t know a thing about the gun probolem we have. Most gunshot victims are shot by people who have stolen the weapons from legal gun owners, or have bought them off the street illegally. Also MOST gun owners are responsible people who just want to have protection from those crazies who use the illegal guns, and most of the time, when it is known that there are people around that carry legally you won’t have much gun violence. Walk into a place that is frequented by local off duty police and you won’t see someone come in there and start shooting it up.

      • Ole Vet

Like you, I don’t, or at least didn’t, patronize Starbucks, however, with their common sense rationale of obeying local laws just sounds sane! (I may have to buy a coffee, now and then.) This is in an atmosphere of ‘ban the gun’ insanity which infects the feeble-minded sheeple who just KNOW all thugs will forgo forever any possible chance of obtaining guns to use illegally! These clowns fervently believe when EVERBODY pays lip-service to this idiotic idea, we will NEVER EVER have another person try to use a gun to force someone to relinquish money, goods, their bodies, whatever!! I wonder what they’ve been smoking, eating, or absorbed, or who has brain-washed them into believing this hog-wash? Is it the liberals with their version of ensuring NO possible recourse when the “authorities” start making unwanted decisions affecting our future freedoms?

        • Bob H

As I see it Ole Vet many liberal groups first they don’t like are Constitution second if they can take are guns away from us like Hilary Clinton small arms treaty with the U.N. another anti Constitutional move, for Hilary said when she was running for President that she was a Socialist, but later change the wording to progressive would make Americans not Citizens but subjects to big Government take over or Tyrany. We are in deep trouble with this marxist socialist run government of Obama and if this man get’s four more years you can kiss are guns gone are God given freedom gone and any hope for are children or grandchildren of having this freedom in the furture. This all out attack on are Constitution is Obama’s dream of hope and change that another man in history called for back in 1933 and that man’s name was Adolf Hitler who was also a great talker who made his people believe that National Socialism would be great for them. Are we going to let history repeat itself, for evil to sucide today is for good men to do nothing to stop it, is are nation about to have a civil war between conservative men and women and the liberal socialist who want to distroy are constitution, my fear is we are on a track to war, for over a hundred years the liberal socialist have tryed to take over the tree branches of Government, and with liberal judges in the 9th district who have taken the California voter who voted for Prov. 8 only to have that over turn and let men marry men and women marry women, this is a complete distruction of are moral value and over ride of are Constitution. Obama will do what ever it takes to get himself relected come Nov 6 2012 and if he should win Mr so called nice guy will put even more distruction on to are Constitution and are freedom, this will indeed lead us into a civil war again, when people wake up to what this man is all about you will see that sleeping giant awaken. We Will Fight For Are Freedom and put this Socialism Marxist movement down for good.

More of the anti gun BS !!!!
God deliver us from do-gooders such as CEO Fineman

    • HANDYMAN

Allen, start by removing guns from cops and all the agents that protect the acting president.

      • mac

Wow! “Acting president” – I will start using that term. It is most appropriate.

        • CAllenDoudna

Good one. I’ve been referring to him as “the Resident”.

            How about usinr “Ratisdent”?

          • Mike

Actually, he is not there enough to be called The Resident. He is too busy flying around on AF1 campaigning to qualify as a resident.

          • Lisa

Love Love Love that!!! He certainly is not MY president. He is merely an organizer & not even a good one. Squatters in the White House.

Here is a good one for ‘Presi-debt’ Obummer.
Does anyone remember the song by the group STYX’s called: “Mr. Roboto”?
Well, I use this instead: “Mr. MULATTO” and the first verse is rewritten:
            You’re wondering who I am,
            ‘Illegal’ or American,
            Raised in a ‘Foreign’ Lands
            I am the ‘Mulatto’ man.

As far as Starbucks go, it’s too bad I’m not much of a coffee drinker. Maybe I’ll have to start.
My compliments to Starbucks & all others who support the 2nd Amendment.

        • Dark_Archer

I have never called this commie POS anything other than muslim scum communist high treasonous traitor ….oh and racist trash

          • MSGT JOHN CORREA

I always refer to “it” as foreign-born Muslim communist agent Mr. Barack Hussein Obama II of Kenya, East Africa who qualifies under the catagory of “espionage.” This foreign-born communist agent’s intent was to destroy our economic lifeline from the very beginning he was planted in the White House by his Muslim and communist sympathizers. We all know ACORN is a communist organization who generated fraudulent voter registration and dispenser of illegal monetary donations from foreign countries to insure the foreign-born Muslim communist agent Mr. Barack Hussein Obama II is securely in place at the White House.

Mr. Barack Hussein Obama II does not qualify under the charge of treason. As a foreigner he certainly does qualify under the catagory of ‘espionage’ since he is continuously destroying our economic lifeline. When you destroy a nation’s economic lifeline, you destroy a nation from within. You must understand that Barack Hussein Obama II was groomed from an early age in preparation for the invasion of the United States of America. Remember the history about the Trojan Horse. It was a brilliant way of entering a city and destroy it from within. The same method applies in a larger scale if you want to destroy a nation from within.

He downplays the highest office in the World. BTW his wife lowers her position too.

        • Lee Baldwin

as long as you do not ever use the words, “president” and “obama” in the same sentence I am fine with that. NOBODY with that many names should be president of anything but a JAIL CELL.

        • Dennis Young

He may be “acting”, but it sure isn’t presidential. It’s more like puppet to George Soros, Karl Marx and any Islamic despot you want to name. The only domestic thing that controls anything he does is an angry Michelle…with her he toes the line, or else! To bad she hates this country as much as he does. She is the one who let her children be exposed to “Reverend” Wright.

          • SOUPERD

I have never been in a Starbucks. I will now make an effort to find one and purchase something I don’t usually buy. I will support businesses that stand for something like … the constitution or law of the land. They made a choice to not discriminate against law abiding citizens.

Starbucks needs to open those 50 new store in this country, not China!

Why are American businesses moving to China. Those people must have more money to buy skanky coffee than we do!

I bought “A cup,” threw it in the trash and walked out! Of course, I like high quality coffee that doesn’t need all that sugar and corn syrup before one can suck it down.. I later found out that Starbuck’s buys the “reject” coffee that no one else in the business will buy because it is so nasty. That is why they have to cover the taste! So you all go spend your money with them, they need money to build those new stores in China…..

        • http://patriotupdate.com Floyd Branscomb Jr

Hey Starbucks, Add + 2 more new customers to your overall new total. When they let these tree huggers and ANTI- everything communist have their way about destroying the CONSTITUTION of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA, WE THE PEOPLE will have failed to protect our great nation and the GOD fearing people that are holding it together. I believe in the quote of, I believe it was Charlton Heston, “I’ll give up my guns when they pry my cold dead finger of the trigger”. What will we have left if we give in to obama and his radicals?

        • DefendConstitution

Good for Starbucks. Nice to see that at least one chain of stores exhibits a set of balls and does not cave in to a group of 25 demanding to press their opinion on the rest of the country. I just came to this site, read this article and decided to post the above comment in favor of Starbucks. My post was denied. I was told I am posting too fast, slow down. The last time I was on this site was about 18 hours ago. I then tried to contact the site but clicking on Contact Us brought me to a search window, not where I could lodge a complaint. I am thinking I may stop visiting this site and let the left enjoy it.

          • Windrinker

Defend, this site recently made some changes. When you reply to a post, the “reply window” used to open right below the post to which you wanted to respond.

Now, the reply window opens at the bottom of the page. It is very inconvenient! If you need to refer back to the post, you are responding to, you have to go back and hunt for it. It sure cuts down on the amount of posts that people make because it is so INCONVENIENT!

Anyway, the “posting too fast window” started popping up at the same time… It is very INCONVENIENT as well! Just hit your “back arrow button” and your post will still be there waiting for you to try to upload again.

          • Suescritters

Take heart there are more licensed American gun owners there American military. And if he ordered them to come after us I’m betting Obama would be the one running.

        • Peggy

Couldn’t agree with you more on that!!

        • Forrest

I have to go out of my way to get to the nearest Starbucks, but I will make a point of doing it from now on. Way to go Starbucks.

        • Ron

It is nice to know, that some establishments welcome people into their stores that abide by the laws. I have a CWP, ( concealed weapons permit), and I carry my .357 with me about 75% of the time I go out. It is a more dangerous world out there now, than ever. The bad guys are always going to be the ones to have guns, so I don’t plan on being a dead statistic.

          • jim letourneau

wow you don’t vacation in Maine do you, do the kids pack some heat, you see trouble you got to open up, it’s your right, you need a gun with a clip, Maine’s Gov is a 2 nd Amendment guy too and then had Capital buildings install metal detectors, well he did keep those tax cuts for the top 5 % and threw the rest of us and kids under the bus, the poor just don’t have good lobyist. that last coment look in the mirror

          • Gary

I avoid going anywhere I cannot carry my gun. I carry a .38 special with frangible bullets the most powerful personal protection round available. I also have a .357 magnum 8 round revolver in my vehicle. Both pistols have ported barrels to relieve muzzle rise, works great.

          • Grewvin

.357? Seriously you need a brick and car penetrator out in public? How about totting a normal sized round that wont go through 2 cars and destroy someone else you dont mean to aim at behind something.

          • Old Faithful Geyser

Jim letourneau is trying to say something again folks, but I can’t figure out what it is. I don’t know if he is for or against guns, by the way he has written this, but I would bet he’s against.
I think he is saying he lives in Maine, then that would explain his confusion, he must be related to those two senators from Maine…..Susan Collins, and Olympia Snow, the two RINOS that vote with the Democrats 90% of the time

        • Brian

I wonder what would happen if the NRA and everybody with conceiled weapons license decided to boycott Starbucks for taking sides against them. Do you think they would still be in business now? I think it’s a dangerous thing when businesses buy into political agenda’s. I have a conceiled weapons license and on anygiven time I have a weapon on my person. Mind you it’s not always a gun I’m carrying, but I always carry. I this country we have the right to carry weapons, to speak what we think and go from one state to another without I.D. papers. That’s a rare thing in this world that many people here would like to take away from us, including obama. Things in this country were just fine before minorities started trying to change things.

You are right on! I don’t like or drink coffee (for 72 years)! But I just might have to become a patron of theirs! I can walk in and buy a “cup” of coffee walk over to a “riteous protester”, and have “an accident”, which results on pouring it all over that persons lapel -etc.!! They don’t have a policy in there that you have to “consume it yourself” do they??

Imagine how the person is going to explain starbucks coffe on their clothing all day to the other protesters! Kind of funny isn’t it??

Frist of all, I don’t care what color Obama is, he, obviously is NOT RED, WHITE and BLUE!

“A government that does not trust its law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms is itself unworthy of trust.” James Madison

“The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in the government.” Thomas Jefferson

“Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the peoples liberty teeth.” George Washington

Last but not least (check this out online) in the twentieth centry 56 MILLION PLUS people were murdered when gun laws were enacted and then enforced.

If you voted for Obama in 2008 to prove you are not a racist, please, vote for someone else in 2012 to prove you are not an idiot. (ananymous from florida)

        • Lee Baldwin

yup. Heading over to any STARBUCKS. I don’t drink coffee, but I will hang out with the best AMERICANS and buy something else. I don’t even open carry either as I don’t wish to give anybody the advantage.

Ray T. Several things ya got wrong. The Supreme Court doesn’t count votes when there is a tie. Two, GWB “asked” his Brother Jeb to “appoint” an UNELECTED Judge an others to count. Both of those Illegal and un-Constitutional. When ever there is a tie in a presidential race, the votes are to be collected an taken to the highest ranking member of the Senate, in the presence of the Senate and the House Of Representives. THEY are the ones who count the ballot votes when there is a tie in the presidential race…. Article XII. of the Constitution.

Ray wants to elect the pile of purple lips again! Guess what Ray? He might have been elected, but it was by DEAD PEOPLE voting quite a few times. The democRATS and UNIONS are the biggest threat to America we have seen in 200 years. ONLY democRATS and UNIONS want no accountability in elections such as SHOWING VOTER I.D.

        • Big D

You mean the “Anointed One”. Whatever. I like “Acting president” too.

          • Windrinker

This piece of crap isn’t any kind of “president” ….”acting” or otherwise..

      • Shadowrider

Acting President? I think not. Even an Acting President would be doing better than him. Although I have several names for him, they are not fit to print. So, the best name for him is USURPER!!

        • J Hall

ShadowRider, I’m like you in several way, I ride a 93 Shadow and what I call him would get me locked up. Some want him impeached, not me, if that happens he continues to receive his pay and benefits, I want him tried and convicted of Treason and then executed. Then, like Wm Wallace I want him drawn and quartered and the parts sent to the four corners of the nation, and his head on a pike that would be in the ground in the front of the house he defiled as a warning to any future individuals that would try and destroy this country like he has.

          • grannyb

I like your way of thinking

          • Carlos

Whatever we call the pretender living in “our” house, the use of capital letters is unwarranted.

          • Lee Baldwin

Hear Hear! J Hall is somebody I can like. AMERICAN through and through. NO BS, straight to the point. I bet he has read the Constitution, unlike purple who has not and will not read it. Purple doesn’t even have a clue why, “We the People” do not like his marxism because he has not read OUR CONSTITUTION of the United States of America.

        • Pineappple

I prefer “the empty suit”, although a suit would have label inside showing its country of origin.

          • Lee Baldwin

In Kenya they make real colorful suits. the Barry SHOW can’t even honor his roots by wearing one.

      • Denise

Very nice Handyman. I like the ‘acting president’ snipe. My two favorite pastimes are insulting Obama, and Mohummed, and blaspheming Allah.

        • CAllenDoudna

Well if Obama’s Thought Police will let the page sit still long enough I’ll post this thing that I’m posting too fast:

          “Ah, ah, ah. . .”

          “No! Don’t do it!”

          “Ah, ah . . .”

          “NNNOOOO!”

          “Ah, ah, ALLAH!”

Oh, oh. Now you’ve done it. You’ve sneezed and insulted a billion Moslems and they’re all going to riot and demand your death. All because you sneezed.”

Now we’ll see if I posted that too fast.

          • MLH

            Hilarious. :) )

        • Diana

LOLOL! ………still LOLing! That’s sooo funny! I LOVE IT! ‘Favorite pasttimes’ what a hoot! Made my day, thanks Denise! :)

        • D Fowler

Denise I am sure you have just made Obama’s ‘enemies’ list or have been reported to his ‘attackwatch’…not to worry, you will be right next to me.

        • William 1

So sad-one cannot “blaspheme” that which IS NOT THE GOD OF THE BIBLE!

you are so right about the (acting) Pres. I wonder what his next acting role will be

        • Lee Baldwin

hopefully it will be guarding his Afrikan cattle herd’s dung pile. That is about the same skill set as community organizer, so he might be able to do that job. Other jobs, ~not so much.

          • Lee Baldwin

You keep saying, ‘Barrack Hussain Obama’ when his real name is probably Bari M. Shebazz, Morris! Or it could be Harrison J. Bounel. Or it could be Barry Soetoro. Or it could be Barack Obama Soebarkah. WE DON’T KNOW because of his big cover-up of truth. Seriously, look up Bari M. Shebazz in google. IF the creep is Bari M. Shebazz, that makes him the son of Malcolm X. ~THAT could be why he covers his slimy tracks.

          • Tomcat

Not totally true on the Citizenship of Dumbama as I call him. I don’t like him, but until proven otherwise, Dumbama is a citizen based upon Title 8. He may have dual citizenship. If born in Africa as many feel he was, the ONLY requirement for him to be a citizen is for one parent, his mother in this case, to have resided in the United States 12 months previously to his birth. Passport and entry/exit documents could prove that. His Hawai birth certificate, FAKE!! Back when Dumbama was born the term African American didn’t exisit.

I refer to the Kenyan as the Fake President. Resident sounds too much like president, but it is an accurate title for this circus clown who snuck into the White House with his junk science American hating big arsed communist wife.

        Not acting president. Acting Present-dent.

“Presi-Debt” & “Dictator-In-Chief” are the real terms for this Imposter!!!

Remember that the “Republi-Cants” control the ‘House’ & the “Demon-Crats” control the ‘Senate’ that Passed the NDAA 2012, that “Mr. Mulatto” signed into Law. It allows him and his cronies to label people as “Associated Forces”, Arrest them and Lock them up in Military Prisons with NO CONTACT to the Outside World or the Justice Farce that we have!!!

      • slapjack

That’s the best advice I’ve heard in three years Handyman. If the head blowhard is so anti gun I personall think he should reconsider Secret Service from even protectivg his worthless Ass. It would save the taxpayers a lot of money. Let’s see how brave the Worthless Kenyan really is.

A very good response Handyman as we know that that will never happen. Liberals believe that guns are only good for liberals. We, of course, know better.

      • http://cowboybyte Michael

You give this guy too much credit. He DOES NOT know how to act like a President! He rather falls in line with those that abuse this country’s generousity. He and his spouse ACT like the most fraudulent welfare reciepients that have ever existed. What else can you call someone who has never held a real job, and whose only ‘known’ history is being raised in a foreign country, yet eats, receives public housing, VACATIONS, party’s, goes on date nights, all while using our best public transportation system, and all at the expense of the American taxpayer?
He knows how to act alright – but not like a President!

Once We are disarmed WHO is Going to Protect us from the Government, Just like all those other nations??? Are the anti guns idiots going to protect us with their stupid protests?? Kick them off the Property!!!!!!!!!!

      • Suescritters

So they outlaw all guns what is next on their list to take away from us. Sorry I don’t trust this administration an the idiots that think a gun is responsible for murder when it’s the fool intent on harm at any cost that is the problem. I’ve owned a gun haven’t needed to use it yet but nice to know if some DA decides a window living alone is helpless I can and will defend myself. You’ve got to get passed the dogs first. Yeah good luck with that.

God Bless Starbucks and to hell with these anti gun clowns. I plan on keeping my gun and if one of these anti gun asses come for it they will be looking down the barrel of it. Sick and tired of these so called do-gooders trying to take my rights away. Think I will start going to Starbucks.

    • http://Cowboybyte Major

I would not put anything past these gun grabbing commies, they use their useful idiots to try and and achieve their agenda such as their sign carriers, they could very well hire some maniac to bring a gun to Starbucks and start shooting i really wonder about these school shootings that killed so many. Before you call me a conspiracy nut do not think these people are above anything to achieve their agenda i mean anything.

      • Windrinker

Same thoughts crossed my mind about the “Gabby” massacre in front of Safeway! Just so happens a Judge was murdered there, as well. He had ruled against the illegal foreigner in some court case! That is just too much of a “coincidence” for me.

(Note: This is my first comment today, but when submitting this, the Moderator sent me a note that I am posting too quickly and to slow down. So, I don’t know if this will get past the guy at the switch. – where are the Cowboy rules for frequency of posting?) My comment: Aw, the boy is just trying to raise his public profile and hook up with the jewess in the Supreme Court, who took an oath to uphold our Constitution in order to get the job, then about a week ago sat with the Egyptian interviewer and told him not to model their Constitution after the US Constitution because it is old and outdated, that they should model after the European Constitutions created after WWII. (Those Constitutions are not based on Christianity principles like ours is.) She said she had a hard job to work under such an old Constitution. That broad is a traitor sitting on OUR Supreme Court. She or her jewish relatives would be speaking German if speaking at all if it were not for our Wonderful US Constitution and the Americans who love and demand that it be observed and respected. Time for Americans to Picket her and get the movement going to kick her butt out. Maybe ship that broad and the Fineman who is fighting to kill our 2nd Amendment, off to Germany, or Poland, and precede their arrival with their “works” so the receivers will be ready to greet them. The Feminists who got mom out of the home -Bella Abzug, Gloria Steinham et al, the brilliant ignoramuses who want to take away Americans’ guns, the brazen ingrate who disrespects and dishonors our Constitution all are the same troubling gang who cannot get along with anyone except their own but want to tell everybody else how to live and run their country. Get Out. Find another country you can do your damage in, you are definitely out of juice in this country. We will keep our 2nd Amendment and maybe bump up the firearms to equate with military – which is our right – and we will keep our Constitution and Founding Documents, and we will keep our Sovereignty and our Borders. No North America Union, No changing name of Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America in a prep for North America Union. Go Elsewhere.

These useful idiots are evil-doers not do-gooders and are part of the emerging democrat party totalitarian revolutionary movement under the ageis of BHO’s “organize Amerika” out of the white house.

    • Jim

This is proof that insanity runs a muck in this country. That IDIOT that is running this anti-gun boycot of Starbucks is just another of the liberal MORONS we have been dealing with to protect OUR freedoms and liberties. It’s their way or no way.

    • MontanaMEL

Dang…. I don’t really like their coffee, nor their prices! Way “too cutsey” for this guy..

BUT…if they are going to remain sane and have their shops follow “local laws” for open carry and other such FREEDOMS…

Then, I guess I’ll have to go get in line and show MY SUPPORT OF THEIR ACTION!!

Hope this bunch doing the squeeking gets tired legs and flat feet.

    • C.Davis

I’m pretty sure it means something that so many people cheer a coffe chain for respecting their second amendment rights, when the only candidate for president who unflinchingly defends the same right along with all others enumerated within the constitution and bill of rights, is called kooky, scary, old and a litany of less complimentary epithets.
I’m still trying to figure out what that says about my countrymen.
I would like to be able to lean away from a descriptive word beginning with “H” and ending with “Y” in favor of an explanation which speaks more to the level of mind control and brainwashing which motivates the majority of American citizens in their understanding of what is going on in the world.
Many commenting here will insist on voting for one of the three globalist stooges who will most assuredly revoke our constitution and the hope it has represented to countless downtrodden souls around the world, should they get their shot at leading our republic.
In reality, a vote for any one of the three will only be a vote for Romney, since Santorum and Gingrinch are not on the ballot in enough states to preclude them winning the nomination, so they will trade their delegates to Romney for back-room “considerations.” What you end up with is the gun grabber Romney in the unlikely event he will be able to defeat gun grabber Obama.
America, come to your senses, break your conditioning, reject your mind controlling lamestream talking heads, and vote for our only chance of avoiding a communist hell on earth,
Dr. Ron Paul for President. RON PAUL 2012

    • lcd

In Texas, if you go into a bar or club you have to check your gun at the door because people who are drinking tend to be more easily annoyed and might use their gun to win an arguement, but at Starbucks they don’t serve alcohol in any form that I know of, not even cafe royal. So what is the problem in a coffee house, most of whose customers are drive up purchasers?

    • Jstarusa

Amen to that, Allen. Tis is a coffee house for God sake, not a gun store! I dont believe the store personel carry a loaded gun around with them, and evidently Mr whiner doesnt believe in his local police to do their job. Starbucks gave an intelligent answer, thats what got him miffed!

  • JG

Well I hope that these powder puffs don’t influence starbuck’s to change. If it is legal then there shouldn’t be one buisiness willing to ban it. Have these anti gun morons not yet figured out that “no gun” zones are only victim zones, not safe zones. Do these people not know that people who open carry are not the criminals, and concealed carry folks have to pass an FBI background check?

Yeah, Mike, I got that same “posting too fast” line two days ago and I didnt understand
it either. Moderator B S or software glitch??? NO it doesnt make sense.

      • Riverdweller

I think it’s probably a glitch. I happened to me a few days ago on my first post of the day.
        Happened once yesterday.

        • DeclarationOfIndependence

Maybe they meant posting too frequently instead of too fast… thought this was a free speech site but wondering if we have some moderators who don’t like some of the things we are freely saying. Now that’s no Cowboy attitude. American Cowboys protect free speech and usually have the equipment in their holsters to guarantee it. Owners should check out who their moderators are. Something is wrong. Hope they aren’t working like the Supreme Court Judge Ginsberg is, operating under regulations or Constitution they do not support.

I’m going to have to buy $tarbuck$ $tock tomorrow! Don’t these anti-gunners realize how many gun owners are in this country and how we support any pro-gun business????????? I live in a very small town with four coffee shops…one of them being a $tarbuck$ right off the freeway and the other three locally-owned.
Until tomorrow, I’ve always supported the locally owned…now they’ll just have to share me!
    THANKS $TARBUCK$!!!!!!!

  • John P

Law abiding citizens do not murder people. The fact remains, there are far less crimes committed when there is a law abiding armed citizen in a given area or store. Should I be in a Star-Bucks for what ever reason and a situation arises I certainly would want to know there may be someone there that is law abiding and has a carry conceal lisence.

  • donl

Yep, time for more starbucks coffee. Think i’ll start taking my .357 with me. Just in case one of those anti-gun freaks goes postal!!!

  • DOOM161

I might need to go to Starbucks more often to piss this guy off. How does he suggest i defend myself against a gun-wielding criminal?

    • BUD

THAT IS THE POINT. HE WANTS YOU TO BE A VICTIM.

    • JC

A gun free zone is a “Criminal Safe Zone”. Don’t these utopian idiots realize that?

      • http://Cowboybyte Major

JC that is not what it’s about, the ones with the agenda has convinced the useful idiots those that carry the signs and others that the guns are to blame, but the top dogs don’t want us to be able to resist the take-over when it hits full force. All Markists disarm the Citizenry.

        • JC

Major, my observation is that it’s a UN agenda, and it’s right out of the Nazi playbook.

          • FRaNK

YEP! People better start paying attention. There isn’t much time left. The NAZIS are here and they are moving swiftly to create a New Reich here in the U.S. of A. George Soros is the Nazi Puppet Master. He sold out his Jewish roots to the Nazis long ago. He survived the Holocaust by preying upon his own desperate people and selling them out to the SS.

The ironic thing is that they have conned the Jews into helping them turn the U.S.A. into a Nazi State ….. What ever happened to “Never Again?” I guess “Never Again” really means … “At least not until the next time.”

    • exbuckeye

More to the point, how is an oldster supposed to protect himself/herself against
a younger person whether the ‘kid’ has a gun or not?

It took a gun to keep a drugged up intruder from killing me in 1988 – construction
worker who set iron bar for a living – half my age and twice my size. And the cops
didnt ccome and didnt come and didnt come…. 33 minutes – and then the states
attorney was gonna charge me with 1st degree murder if he died.

I dont hear CEO Fineman bi tc hin about “fast and furious” and all the guns the
      gov gave to mexican cartels.

BTW NGAC sounds like you’re puking up something stuck in your throat. LOL

    • ldmstr

They want us dependant on the government for our security. The problem is that with the lack of police officers in most cities we have to wait for help. Even when it is a life and death situation it is better to be able to defend ourself than to have to wait 30 minutes for help. I will always carry where it is legal. If nothing else it will allow me to help my neighbors stay safe as well. POSTING TO FAST??? Buy some more servers fellas!!!

      • Roger

I live in California and they just made it illegal to do open carry. So now I carry loaded and concealed. It is almost impossible to get a CCW, as they say you don’t have a good reason to carry. If I can’t carry legally I’ll do it otherwise.

  • T

Doesn’t the anti gun numbnutz understand once Starbucks would enforce such a ban that a non law abidding person would come to the place and rob and possibly kill those persons inside!?! I see common sense is not for all. All starbucks would be doing is setting up persons to be victims. Fineman must be pro Obama & believe he was born in the USA!

  • akro

There is a small chain of restaurants here that has great coffee, but also posts NO GUNS ALLOWED signs on their doors. I stopped doing business with them immediately and told them so! Starbucks will get my coffee business hence forth. Moron Fineman can go to hell. That dumbass is one mugging away from learning to love the second amendment.

  • http://www.rightwingamerica.com Markusdecarcus

I never had a desire for overpriced coffee until now. If this place supports my 2nd amendment, then I will buy their coffee. I will go out of my way to get a Starbucks, when the opportunity presents…thanks Starbucks.

To the ANTI GUN People that have all the answers. THE Major problem with you folks is that you just don’t get it. We LAWFUL GUN OWNERS are NOT and NEVER have been the PROBLEM, THE REVOLVING DOOR’S at the PRISON’S and the LIBERAL JUDGES are the PROBLEM.
We have no problem putting Criminals behind bars and keeping them there. BUT you folks let them right back out before the ink is dry at the Police Stations. You should be mad as hell at the so called Justice system for WASTING YOUR MONEY on these REPEATED OFFENDERS.
GET A LIFE AND REALLY TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT WHERE THE problem REALLY IS And stop Harrassing the Lawful Taxpaying Gun owners.
P.S. The Police carry guns for PROTECTION, Why shouldn’t we have the same right.

    • JC

Good Point AC…we don’t have a justice system anymore. We have a “law” system. A system of complete control that makes everyone guilty of something at all times. It isn’t about “justice” at all.

    • http://www.carolinapatriots.org C.Ann C.

Absolutely! These “Anti-Gun” morons don’t understand that it’s NOT guns who kill people…PEOPLE kill people! All a gun does is just lay around being a cold metal machine, and when picked up by a human, it is either respected for being the “machine” that it is, hand guns in question, and respected by the gun holder like a lot of us who own hand guns and have the RIGHT to carry, like me, or is disrespected by a former criminal (which shouldn’t be allowed any guns at all). That is where the laws should start — any convicted criminal who served their sentences and released (either on bail or not) should be on a database at every gun store seller and if they attempt to buy a gun, the database will bring up their name and be denied the purchase of such weapons.
Starbucks is exercising their RIGHT to allow the Right-Carry-Permit holders to enter their establishments – - let them have their RIGHT! Let those Anti-gun idiots boycott Starbucks! More coffee for us gun-carriers to come in to get more coffee! Those idiot protesters also do not understand that if our 2d Amendment is taken away from us, as the “Annoited One” wants to do by making a treaty with the UN to ban all guns from all Americans, then our ENTIRE US Constitutional RIGHTS will be taken away! Once they start on the 2d Amendment, the next one is the 1st Amendment (which, by the way, is being attacked) and then all the rest will follow. THEN those anti-gun sub-humans might just feel the biggest brunt of their lives when they will no longer be allowed to do any protesting and exercising their “freedom of speech” because THAT will be taken away by the “Annoited One”!!!! Unless we stand to FIGHT him, his administration, his CRONIES, his CZARS, by voting HIM out of OUR White House this November, we will most likely see our Rights diminish very quickly over the next 2 years.

    • Paul

You might want to rephrase that to, “the police carry guns for THEIR protection, not yours.

      • FRaNK

How about “the police carry guns to keep you in line.”

  • Terry C.

I am sure that the members of the NGAC will be missed by Starbucks. I doubt that their boycott will send Starbucks into bankruptcy. All that will happen is that the members of NGAC will miss a fine cup of coffee.

  • Outlawcajun

An invitation for Heir Fineman…You don’t like us exercising our 2nd Amendment right and owning firearms…come and take them, personally…if you have the cajones to try.

THANK YOU STARBUCKS for standing your ground. Support the Second Amendment.

So good to hear so many with the understanding that WE THE PEOPLE need the protection and have the GOD given right to protect ourselves from the predators. The police cannot be every where and every time!

Thanks Starbucks for taking a stance that sure sounds reasonable to me!

For you out there in the land of OZ …………God help you ……… you’ll need it!

  • warren reynolds

I was already boycotting starbucks because one of their ceo’s took personal time off to help obamas election campaign, I like their stance on this issue and support them again…..

Its another case of “Don’t do as I do – Do as I Say!”. I just heard that Geo Soros (the Euro-
Commie) has a personal bodyguard that carries a loaded Glock with no paperwork!!?? So while the anti-American Commie gives millions to the leftist Media-Matters, he violates existing gun laws.

      • FRaNK

Soros is a Nazi. He was raised a Jew until age 13. Then, he sold out his people and his faith body and soul and became a black market dealer in stolen and looted Jewish possessions. That is how he got his start in life …. stealing from his own people! He sold out to the Nazis in WWII and now he is trying to create a “United Nazi States of America.” George Soros is a piece of Shi’ite.

  • mac

Depends on “local laws” whether Starbucks has the option – not all communities have the same laws that NGAC’s Fineman seems to think are universal.

  • dawn

We have the right to bear arms. In this country today,
we should all be on our toes and if the enemies have
firearms, I’m sure as heck going to carry one.
Another tactic to rid us of our rights. Not going to happen!

  • URKiddinMee

As many others have stated, I’ve never been a fan of paying the high prices every mprning for a Starbucks, but I’m going to start patronzing them now. I wonder how long these dipchits would hang around in their local Starbucks if a “buy something or get the hell out” policy was invoked?

  • Steve

This is my first comment so WTF is this manure about posting too fast? I am seeing this on Conservativebyte, Patriot Update, etc as well. YOU are about to communicate the idea that you don’t support free speech and that all of the aforementioned websites are owned/controlled by the same person OR from my former military training that I have these sites are just “fronts” for the Gov’t to gather information on people they will eventually imprison. It is called “Black Propaganda” in Intelligence Circles.

Thankfully Starbucks policy shows someone was thinking when they adopted their policy.

As for Fineman…I quote Josef Stalin…”useful idiot.” Mr. Fineman you are the type of person that sells out everyone else around them in the hopes you will be killed last. Please read the history of Soviet Russia if you fail to grasp my quote. But something tells me you won’t. I guess this time around ignorance isn’t bliss…it is deadly.

Thank you to Starbucks for abiding by local laws. God Bless you all !!!!!!!!!!!

  • John Campanile

I am not a lover of Starbucks coffee. I think it’s a little strong for me. But I will definitely stop there more often now, while carrying my legally concealed .357. We have to show our support for Starbucks and any other business however we can.

  • okee

Fineman, along with Bloomberg, Lautenberg, Waxman, Fienstein, Fiengold, Levin,
Clinton, Boxer, Sustein, Jarrett, Waters, Podesta, Van Jones, Ayers & Wife, along
with the kid Obama and many more on the far left are really after people control.
They can’t achieve this until the guns are confiscated, that is what is really about.

  • jim

Thanks Starbucks ! ! I’ll have to make it my coffee stop from now on. Let the anti-gun owners go somewhere else, in fact I’ve told quite a few where to go already.

  • shawn corrigan

starbucks is good, these commie azzwipes are thugs , they will stop at noting to accomplish their bolshevic commie objectives, in the end they will destroy the host they parasite off from, then move on ,complaining how the hard working coffee workers were bad capitalist users. and the company will exist no more. or our nation for that matter. look at history, this horrible cycle repeats over and over. killing hundreds of millions, but oh, they do it in the name of fairness, safety , protecting us, and the environment. oh yes , we must be helpful and protect the people by taking their guns, their rights, and restrict their every move until starvation kills all.
nice, commie azzwipes you much me sick

  • David USAF

Starbucks business is going to get busy. They’ll probably have to hire more people to handle the extra business. Anti-gunners should boycott more business to boost the economy.

  • Robert A L

Fineman must own a lot of Starbucks Stock as he is driving business to Starbucks.

    Devious Folks these . . . .

    • Antiliberal

Dawn, I agree with you completely. Got my DD ‘cup a joe’ right beside me.
Also, please correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Starbucks refuse to send coffee to the troops near the geginning of the Iraq War? I’ve been boycotting them on that presumption ever since. But then, I don’t like their coffee anyway.

      • donald

Bad presumption. Do a little research!

Antiliberal : You will be considered wrong for your accusation against Starbucks . Where is the prove of this ? Did you just make it up or could it be you just did not understand ?
I was also told by “cowboybyte.com” to slow down on posting – what gives ?

        • Antiliberal

Jeez people, get a grip will ya. I said “correct me”, not vilify me. Sp5, what accusation? I made no such claim. I do not remember the source of the info, and NO I didn’t research it donald, nor did I say it was factual Curly W., I was simply asking a question. And before you all invest in a Starbucks stock portfolio, remember where this company is based, ultra-liberal Seattle. To my knowledge, they have a profoundly liberal history. So, their NOT sending coffee to the troops, would NOT be totally out of character, would it? As for you three, try comprehending before posting, in other words, engage your brain before your fingers.

Will someone please mug some of these protesters so a law-abiding-gun-toting citizen can save their azzes.

The best humor is the big anti leader in New York. Look at every time he is in public, he has at least 2 heavily armed guards beside him in camera. And more in the wings. Hates guns so bad he surrounds himself with them.

  • Tomcat

What idiots line Fineman and others fail to acknowledge is the history of this great nation and why the Bill of Rights was written. The Constitution would have never been ratified without them. The Bill of Rights were an answer to to bot the atrocities committed upon the colonists by the British and their distrust of Big Government. At one point in this country, carrying a fire arm WAS LAW. The Second Admendment guarentees our rights to own and bear arms. After the conclusion of the Revolutionary War, the Army was almost totally disbanded save for about 200 officers and men. The people WERE the militia.

A bigger issue is that these liberal nut cases are they type that blame everyone and everything else for their problems. They try to legislate morality and hold an inanimate object responsible for the conduct of the human. The gun in this case, needs someone to pick it up, load it, aim it and fire it. It cannot do any of the above without divine HUMAN intervention nor does it have a ill will towards anyone.

Bottom line, enforce the laws!!! Hold people accountable for their mis-deeds and adopt the policies of the sheriff of Maricopa Country. Make jail and prison the last place people want to go.

  • mike

    Must visit Starbucks more often.

Thanks be to Starbucks. The gun ban is just another Constutional right that the extream left is taking away from us. It’s about time that the Citizens of the U. S. • Joseph Kubik

They have no business trying to force their demands on anyone. Who died and left them to be God? Since when do they have any right or responsibility to order a public or private business to have or not have a “policy”? Starbucks has no policy, and that is fine, because that right is guaranteed by the Constitution. This bunch of yo-yos can go pound sand.

  • http://i niles

Who do these nuts think they are? Trying to dictate what a business does. Maybe Mrs. Obama can tell them not to use cream and sugar. It goes against her junk food ban

Good for Starbucks. If we had a Starbucks in the small town where I live I would go by and buy something as well. I do drink coffee but I am not a fan of their particular coffee. Starbucks committing to be an Aggressive Corporate Advocate for sane gun laws according to this IDIOT,” NGAC CEO Elliot Fineman would be to for them abide by this IDIOTS demands and more than likely a large loss of business. Fortunately the CEO of Starbucks has a pretty good head on his/her shoulders and recognizes that MORE & MORE gun laws don’t amount to a hill of beans (no pun intended) if the so called advocates of gun laws can’t get the goverment to enforce the laws already on the books. So what good are more & more gun laws for?? This IDIOT Fineman wants ONE thing and thing ONLY, for the government to take away EVERYBODYS guns so when the time comes that the government decides they can take control and control everybody no one will be armed to stand against the TYRANNICAL GOVERNMENT that resides in Washington now! Good for you Starbucks! Hang tough! We will support you!

I’m not a big coffee drinker but I will in the future support Starbucks by buying something else in their stores.

I suspect there are many more gun advocates then there are gun control freaks. Consequently, maybe Starbucks business will increase.

I do not know why they can’t read the facts and get it once and for all. Where guns are outlawed or scarce crime is high. Where guns are allowed crime goes down in nearly every category. But I guess it’s just like obama’s supporters they don’t get it either. But it cannot be just ignorance, or can it?

There are over 200 million rifles, shotguns and handguns in the public’s possession. We also know that 2/3 of the 16,137 murders in the US in 2004, were caused by guns and over ½ of 401,326 violent crimes were done with the aid of a gun.

Meanwhile firearms have had a special place in this country’s history, and the Second Amendment to the US Constitution states: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” But because of a history of violence, especially in the decade of the Depression, pressure was exerted on the Federal government to control guns, and the Firearms Act of 1934 banned silencers and sawed off shotguns. There are also laws regulating the ownership of machine guns, and heavy military ordinance.

Many in this part of the country see the NRA as an industry lobby that is only interested in promoting gun sales, and therefore benefiting by being the beneficiary of large contributions from these gun manufacturers. Obviously, given the fact that Wayne LaPierre makes almost $900,000 per year and the NRA hierarchy lives quite well, one could draw the conclusion that the Second Amendment is almost meaningless as a “basic right” but more used as a tactic to rile up hunters and gun enthusiasts to raise money to protect the gun producers.

One could guess that the average citizen, who does not want to carry a gun, would be fearful for their lives. In other words, they would be forced to carry a firearm to be competitively safer. It sort of reminds me of the track runner who in a climate of zero drug de-regulation would be forced to use performance-enhancing drugs to compete, or he/she would be at a substantive disadvantage!

Of course some supporters of the NRA claim that an armed public could prevent the totalitarian overthrow of the United States government. They also state cite that Hitler had confiscated all the guns in Germany, and if the Jews had even a small fraction of the gun ownership that is in the US today they would have been much more able to protect themselves from arrest and deportation. But on the other hand the Russian revolt of 1905 and the Revolution of 1917 came about because the generally unarmed public had guns because of the Russo-Japanese War and WWI.

  • dick

Although their coffee is bitter, I’ll choke down a couple of cups to support them. Further, will not all of us feel safer in Starbucks, then say…..Nancy Pelosi’s house, or perhaps; Harry “the bodies” house. Oh, I forgot, Harry would feel safe in his house, but not Nancy’s.

  • http://advocates-wvox.com rjgarfunkel

The gun lobby lands on mushier ground, however, when it leaps from such / examples into a far broader argument: that more lives are saved than lost by the firearms Americans acquire to protect themselves and their property. The N.R.A. emphasized that claim in a two-page newspaper advertisement attacking TIME for its report ((July 17)) on 464 gun deaths that occurred in the U.S. in a single week, chosen at random. “Legally-owned firearms saved the lives of far more Americans than those lost during ((TIME’s)) ‘seven deadly days,’ ” the advertisement stated. “According to noted criminologist Dr. Gary Kleck of Florida State University, every year some 650,000 Americans use firearms to thwart criminal assault. That’s 12,500 a week.”

Even Paul Blackman, research coordinator for the N.R.A., concedes that the advertisement “stretches the data.” He adds, “I don’t know of any criminological study that has tried to quantify the number of lives saved based on the number of guns that were successfully used for protection.”

Kleck says his study did not consider the question of lives saved. Nor did he conclude, as the N.R.A. claims, that a crime or an assault had been “thwarted” in each of his estimated 645,000 (the ad upped it to 650,000) annual instances of a protective use of a gun. Kleck notes that his study may have included incidents in which a homeowner merely heard noisy youths outside his house, then shouted, “Hey, I’ve got a gun!” and never saw any possible attacker.

Still, Kleck estimates that an assailant or the defender actually fired a handgun in nearly half the cases. If so, 322,000 incidents each year involved great danger, and the potential victims credited their guns with protecting them. That is about ten times the number who die from guns annually in the U.S. “It is possible that guns save more lives than they cost,” Kleck says.
His numbers are based on a 1981 poll conducted by Peter D. Hart Research Associates. It asked 1,228 U.S. voters whether in the previous five years any member of their household had “used a handgun, even if it was not fired, for self-protection or for the protection of property.” Roughly 4% (about 50 people) said they had done so. Projecting that percentage onto the number of U.S. households in the five years covered by the poll (1976-81), Kleck came up with the estimate that handguns had been used protectively 3,224,880 times, or 645,000 a year. Comparing that with surveys that included rifles and shotguns, he estimated that all types of guns are used defensively about a million times a year.

Is his analysis valid? “I certainly don’t feel very comfortable with the way he’s used the data,” says Hart Research president Geoffrey Garin. While Kleck based his findings on the Hart survey, his analysis of the circumstances under which guns were used came from other studies. Protests Garin: “We don’t know anything about the nature of the instances people were reporting.” Says William Eastman, president of the California Chiefs of Police Association, about the Kleck conclusions: “It annoys the hell out of me. There’s no basis for that data.”
There is far more research on the question of who is most likely to get killed when someone keeps a gun at home. In a 1986 study called “Protection or Peril?,” Dr. Arthur Kellermann, a University of Tennessee professor of medicine, and Dr. Donald Reay, chief medical examiner of King County in Washington, concluded that for each defensive, justifiable homicide there were 43 murders, suicides or accidental deaths. Out of 398 gunshot fatalities in homes in King County between 1978 and 1983, only nine were motivated by self- defense.

The one-week survey by TIME found a similar ratio on a national basis: only 14 of the 464 gun deaths resulted from defensive firing. An alarming 216 were suicides, 22 were accidental, and many of the rest involved homicides among people who knew each other well rather than citizens gunned down by strangers. Such statistics do not refute the argument that a gun, even if not fired, can save a life by discouraging a murderous attacker. Still, Tulane sociologist James Wright points out that guns have limited usefulness in preventing crimes. About 90% of crimes in homes occur when the resident is away, he notes, while violent crimes often take place on the streets. Says Wright: “Unless you make a habit of walking around with your gun at all times, you’re not going to stop that either.”

A relatively balanced view of the gun question comes, surprisingly, from Kleck. “The vast majority of the population lives in low-crime neighborhoods and has virtually no need for a gun for defensive reasons,” he says. “A tiny fraction has a great deal of reason to get anything it can get that might help reduce its victimization.” Even the American Rifleman accounts of how helpful a gun can be in saving a life may not always tell the full story. In the case of cabdriver Bolton, the N.R.A. magazine failed to report how chance, rather than her pistol, saved her life. Bolton told the Arizona Republic that after she wounded her assailant, he grabbed her gun, pushed the barrel against her neck and pulled the trigger several times. What really saved Bolton was that she had emptied the chamber. Said she: “I kept thinking that maybe there was a bullet still in it and it would go off at any minute.” If that had happened, the incident undoubtedly would not have appeared in the Rifleman.

All of us who appreciate our second ammendment need to talk to as many gun owners as we can about the importance of the Nov. election. If all the gun owners had gotten of their asses and voted last 2008 election we would not be sitting here gripping about Obumnuts.

I am sure that most gun owners voted in 2008. Assuming that gun owners are more conservative, have a proclivity to vote Republican and supported McCain, Obama still won by 10 million votes. My sense is that with the current GOP field, led by Romney, who a majority in his own party dislikes, and Santorum, who a majority in the country thinks is a religious zealot and is anti-women and minorities, President Obama will breeze to re-election. Therefore gun owners will be of no factor.

Gun owners don’t have to fear registration, back ground checks for sanity and criminality or the banning of WMDs. They should worry less about the government stealing their toys then their spouse and or children blowing their heads off.

Having never been in a Starbucks, it is probably a good time to go. just to show my support against the Libs that want it their way. By the way for all you anti Gun Libs, this isn’t Burger King. You don’t get it your way. Be seeing you shortly Starbucks and thank you libs. I always wanted to try a Starbucks just never had the right motivation

I am with you SickoftheBS. I got a kick out of your “This is not Burger King” remark.

Go screw yourself, Fineman. I am sure your rhetoric will protect you when a repeat offender breaks in your house and threatens your life and property.

These so called do-gooder protesters have nothing better to do then to disrupt a business. What a bunch of IDIOTS.

The way Starbucks feels could mean a boom in their business. I don’t have a Starbucks near me but I will visit them when I do see one. I had the impression that Starbucks catered to the anti-gun sissies but this changed my mind.

Using a gun in self-defense is no more likely to reduce the chance of being injured during a crime than various other forms of protective action. Of the 13,636 Americans who were murdered in 2009, only 215 were killed by firearms (165 by handguns) in homicides by private citizens that law enforcement determined were justifiable.48 A study reviewing surveys of gun use in the U.S. determined that most self-reported self-defense gun uses may well be illegal and against the interests of society.

From 1993 to 2001, an annual average of 737,360 violent crimes were committed with handguns in the U.S., making handguns seven times more likely to be used to commit violent crimes than other firearms. Although handguns make up only 34% of firearms, approximately 80% of firearm homicides are committed with a handgun.51 Women face an especially high risk of handgun violence.52 In 2008, 71% of female homicide victims were killed with a handgun.

A California study found that in the first year after the purchase of a handgun, suicide was the leading cause of death among handgun purchasers. In the first week after the purchase of a handgun, the firearm suicide rate among the purchasers was 57 times as high as the adjusted rate in the general population.

A 1991 study documenting the effectiveness of Washington, D.C.’s law banning handguns (this law was recently repealed following the U.S. Supreme Court ruling finding it unconstitutional in District of Columbia v. Heller, 128 S. Ct. 2783 (2008)) found that following the enactment of the ban in 1976, there was a 25% decline in homicides committed with firearms and a 23% decline in suicides committed with firearms within the District of Columbia. No similar reductions were observed in the number of homicides or suicides committed by other means, nor were similar reductions found in the adjacent metropolitan areas in Maryland and Virginia. As a result of its now-repealed handgun ban, the District of Columbia had the lowest rate of youth suicide in the nation – lower than any state.

You are about one ignorant MF. All the stats you puke out are the same ignorant BS the anti gun supporters have stood by for years. It’s time for gun supporters to stand up for their second ammendant rights and grab you chicken shit California assholes by the neck and stuff your heads back up your ass where they belong.

      • http://advocates-wvox.com rjgarfunkel

I can remember a great “Dennis Johnson” who played for the Boston Celtics with Larry Bird. Unfortunately he passed away at a young age. What’s your claim to fame? Cursing out anyone who differs with your narrow-mindedness? it would be a much better world with that Dennis.

Finally you speak some truth! Guns aren’t the problem, criminals are! And people that would choose to be a victim, like yourself!! I choose to have the Constitutionally protected right to protect myself! And possibly even you someday!! I also hope that it never happens! That’s the difference between law abiding carry, and criminal!! Have a safe day!

Gee I tried big pink pillows and they just don’t work….As the legal owner of a carry permit and a gun I thwarted an attempt by a big bum to knock down my wife and rob her. This was in Seattle he stalked us and made his move at our car. When I reached for my legal fire arm he hauled ass. No I didn’t report it. What would have been the point? I stopped it. Went from being a sheep to a wolf. Yea, we are both in our 60′s. I’ll bet the incidents like this are many. I wonder what Fineman would have done?

    • David Stovall

Rigarfunkel, do you really believe those liberal talking points? None of those statistics apply and either you suck the cool aid or you spread the fertilizer.

Not every statistic paints the complete or even a partially accurate picture. But denying these numbers, and what they mean, reflects “ostrich style” thinking. Having one’s head up their posterior blunts one’s cognitive skills.

    • Roger

Well, # 1 You took some statistics from California, which I am from, they were probably skewed seeing as how we have Jerry Brown in office. Another thing you fail at, there are nine times as many deaths caused by doctors than there are from guns. You need to do some more reading from various places other than the HuffPo.

Isn’t this wonderful for Starbucks. The poor stupid man doens’t realizse but he is just giving Starbucks lots and LOTS of free commercials. The article posted yesterday has drawn this amount of comment. Just think of all of those that have read the article and not made comment but made the choice for Starbucks. The ‘do-gooders’ always end up ‘shooting themselves in the foot’ (no pun intended). They don’t lift a hand to fight for freedom but they certainly enjoy the freedoms that were fought for and obtained by those that had to USE GUNS to secure the freedoms that WE ENJOY!!

Since when is it a business owner’s responsibility to choose which laws they will support and which they won’t? Aren’t these anti-gun nuts asking businesses to usurp the law, which they have no right to do in the first place? Don’t you dare touch my natural right to carry my weapon. Good for you Starbucks for standing your ground! So, which law should be usurped next? Think about that for a while.

I love these anti-gun people. Many of them support a woman’s right to murder an innocent unborn child that has no guilt, but won’t allow a woman the natural right to protect herself and her living children from a guilty criminal. As a woman, I choose to exercise my Second Amendment right…freedom of choice to carry my .9mm and if I have to use it someday to kill, it won’t be used on an innocent person.

We Indiana Gun Owners support you, Starbucks! Stand your ground!! Many of us stopped into your shops yesterday to support you and will continue to choose your business over any of those business who don’t make a stand to support the LAW, now or in the future.

Firearm-related deaths and injuries result in estimated medical costs of $2.3 billion each year – half of which are borne by U.S. taxpayers. Once all the direct and indirect medical, legal and societal costs are factored together, the annual cost of gun violence in America amounts to $100 billion. Americans own an estimated 270 million firearms – approximately 90 guns for every 100 people. In 2007, nearly 70% of all murders nationwide were committed with a firearm. In 2007, 385,178 total firearm crimes were committed, including 11,512 murders, 190,514 robberies, and 183,153 aggravated assaults.

Guns cause the death of 20 children and young adults (24 years of age and under) each day in the U.S.Children and young adults (24 years of age and under) constitute over 41% of all firearm deaths and non-fatal injuries. In the United States, over 1.69 million kids age 18 and under are living in households with loaded and unlocked firearms. More than 75% of guns used in suicide attempts and unintentional injuries of 0-19 year-olds were stored in the residence of the victim, a relative, or a friend. A 2000 study found that 55% of U.S. homes with children and firearms have one or more firearms in an unlocked place; 43% have guns without a trigger lock in an unlocked place. The practices of keeping firearms locked, unloaded, and storing ammunition in a locked location separate from firearms may assist in reducing youth suicide and unintentional injury in homes with children and teenagers where guns are stored. Many young children, including children as young as three years old, are strong enough to fire handguns.

Of the 13,636 Americans who were murdered in 2009, only 215 were killed by firearms (165 by handguns) in homicides by private citizens that law enforcement determined were justifiable. Please understand that Starbucks is owned and managed by a bunch of Liberals. Because of this I find it difficult to understand how Starbucks had the courage to take the stand that they have taken but it just goes back to the old saying “even a broke clock is right twice a day”. I wonder how long their position will stand when all of their liberal friends begin to put pressure on them to change the policy again because they will say that it makes it look like Conservatives “won” and that Starbucks is supporting the Conservative agenda. Let’s keep our eyes and ears open.

  • Bob

Thank you Starbucks. You have earned my support. Make mine “black – no sugar – please”.

  • http://advocates-wvox.com rjgarfunkel

In 2007, guns were the cause of the unintentional deaths of 613 people. From 2001 through 2007, over 4,900 people in the United States died from unintentional shootings. Over 1,750 victims of unintentional shootings between 2001 and 2007 were under 25 years of age.
People of all age groups are significantly more likely to die from unintentional firearm injuries when they live in states with more guns, relative to states with fewer guns. On average, states with the highest gun levels had nine times the rate of unintentional firearms deaths compared to states with the lowest gun levels.

A federal government study of unintentional shootings found that 8% of such shooting deaths resulted from shots fired by children under the age of six. The U.S. General Accounting Office has estimated that 31% of unintentional deaths caused by firearms might be prevented by the addition of two devices: a child-proof safety lock (8%) and a loading indicator (23%). Guns increase the probability of death in incidents of domestic violence. Firearms were used to kill more than two-thirds of spouse and ex-spouse homicide victims between 1990 and 2005.27 Domestic violence assaults involving a firearm are 23 times more likely to result in death than those involving other weapons or bodily force.28 Abused women are five times more likely to be killed by their abuser if the abuser owns a firearm.

A recent survey of female domestic violence shelter residents in California found that more than one third (36.7%) reported having been threatened or harmed with a firearm.30 In nearly two thirds (64.5%) of the households that contained a firearm, the intimate partner had used the firearm against the victim, usually threatening to shoot or kill the victim.31 Laws that prohibit the purchase of a firearm by a person subject to a domestic violence restraining order are associated with a reduction in the number of intimate partner homicides.32 Between 1990 and 2005, individuals killed by current dating partners made up almost half of all spouse and current dating partner homicides.

A study of applicants for domestic violence restraining orders in Los Angeles found that the most common relationship between the victim and abuser was a dating relationship, and applications for protective orders were more likely to mention firearms when the parties had not lived together and were not married.

For additional information about domestic violence and firearms, including background information and state and local laws on the topic, see LCAV’s Domestic Violence and Firearms Policy Summary

Why would anyone believe any study that was conducted using government figures from an anti-gun administration such as the one that we are living under at this time? Can I mention, “Fast and Furious”? How about that criminal we have in the Attorney Generals office that was appointed by Obama?

    • Kansas Kahuna

Your statistics are flawed…where did you get them? It is fact that states with the most LIBERAL GUN LAWS, are the safest, with the fewest amount of violent crime and murders! You, sir or madam are a brainwashed liberal idiot. I would like to be the fly on the wall when you are begging for mercy when a criminal, is about to take your life, regardless of the weapon used. Maybe a good place to start is by banning all vehicles off the roadways, except semis and delivery wagons due to all the carnage. Maybe we should demand that all eating utinsels be made of rubber so they cannot be used as a weapon. Abolish baseball and hockey because bats and hockysticks can be used as leathal weapons. You and your kind of bleeding hearts are a joke…I can see you never were in the service, and you are probably in the SF area, a member of the homo society of rump pilots and 69ers. Don’t yell for a gun owner to protect your sorry ass when the chips are down…KK

      • donald

You’re absolutely right. In our central Texas community we have police officers, sheriffs and constables, all of whom support concealed carry. One of our constables teaches the concealed carry class. Last year during class he produced statistics from the Texas Highway Patrol that since Texas passed the concealed carry law years ago, violent crime, including home invasions and burglaries, is down.

      • http://advocates-wvox.com rjgarfunkel

That is an inaccurate statement, not supported by data. Red States with easy gun laws have greater per capita violence., among other social ills.

An analysis of Texas’ CCW law, (a law adopted in 1995 that overturned the state’s 125-year ban on concealed weapons), found that between January 1, 1996 and August 31, 2001, Texas license holders were arrested for 5,314 crimes, including murder, rape, kidnapping and theft.
From 1996 to 2000, Texas CCW holders were arrested for weapons-related crimes at a rate 81% higher than that of the state’s general population age 21 and older. Since the Texas law took effect, more than 400 criminals – including rapists and armed robbers – had been issued CCW permits, and thousands of the 215,000 permit holders have been arrested for criminal behavior or found to be mentally unstable. The “largest category of problem licensees involve those who committed crimes after getting their state” permits. Florida’s CCW system had, just in the first half of 2006, licensed more than 1,400 individuals who had pleaded guilty or no contest to felonies, 216 individuals with outstanding warrants, 128 people with active domestic violence injunctions against them, and six registered sex offenders.

Speaking of these evangelicals and the “Red States” where they exert so much political clout and legislative influence, in the November’s Vanity Fair magazine (please access the following site: http://louisvilledivorce.typepad.com/info/2006/11/red_state_blue.html ) one can read about the “real” national statistics on morality. The “Red States” lead in violent crime, overall crime, divorce, illegitimacy, infidelity, multiple sexual partners, rape, incest, teenage mortality, drug abuse and incarceration. One should ask why?

Speaking of the “Red States,” as to illegitimacy rates, according to the National Center for Health Statistics, of states with the highest percentage of births in 2003 to unwed mothers, 9 of the top 10 are “red” states. The rate for teen mortality by suicide, homicide and accidents, despite their state’s reputation for family, religious and moral values, was much higher in the “red” states. In fact the top ten states regarding that statistic are “red,” and the bottom ten are “blue!” Not only that the top ten states in alcohol dependence and abuse, are “red” states. The incidence of venereal disease is 40% higher in the “red” states.

        I’ll take New York!

    • Doc H.

Maybe we should stop driving cars. They kill more people by far than guns do. No wait, it’s the people who are driving the cars that kill people. Just like it is the person holding the gun that kills someone else, not the gun. What about drunk drivers, they kill more people than guns but I don’t see anyone trying to ban alcohol. Illegal drugs and the crime and violence that goes with it are much more expensive to this countries tax payers than any of your gun stats. Illegal immigrants cost tax payers much more money than all your stats combined but the government turns it head. They need the illegal vote and illegal support or liberals don’t get elected. It’s really that simple. Get a clue rigarfunkel.

      • http://advocates-wvox.com rjgarfunkel

Most accidents, with the loss of life, occur when miscreants are drunk or high. What in hell does that have to with all the mass killings that we have endured for decades from the shootings at University of Texas, to Columbine. The gun or automatic rifle has a very powerful “multiplier” affect that neither a knife or a blunt object has. Every civilized society has restrictions on gun ownership and I do not recall a coup d’ etat in a Western country in a very long time.

The U.S. has the highest rate of firearm deaths among 25 high-income nations. Another study concluded that among 36 high-income and upper-middle-income countries, the U.S. has the highest overall gun mortality rate. The overall firearm-related death rate among U.S. children under the age of 15 is nearly 12 times higher than that among children in 25 other industrialized nations combined The firearm-related suicide rate for children between the ages of 5 and 14 years old in the United States is nearly 11 times higher than that in 25 other developed countries. Americans own far more civilian firearms – particularly handguns – than people in other industrialized nations and U.S. gun laws are among the most lax in the world.
Living in a home where there are guns increases the risk of homicide by 40 to 170% and the risk of suicide by 90 to 460%.Guns kept in the home are more likely to be involved in a fatal or nonfatal unintentional shooting, criminal assault or suicide attempt than to be used to injure or kill in self-defense. Having a gun in the home is associated with an increased risk of firearm homicide and firearm suicide in the home, regardless of storage practice, type of gun, or number of guns in the home. Rather than conferring protection, guns in the home are associated with an increase in the risk of homicide by a family member or intimate acquaintance. The relative risk of dying from an unintentional gunshot injury is 3.7 times higher for adults living in homes with guns, with handguns in the home posing a particular threat. States with higher rates of household firearm ownership have significantly higher homicide victimization rates. People who keep a gun in their home are almost twice as likely to die in a gun-related homicide and 16 times more likely to use a gun to commit suicide than people without a gun in their home. A study of firearm storage patterns in U.S. homes found that “ the homes with children and firearms, 55% were reported to have one or more firearms in an unlocked place,” and 43% reported keeping guns without a trigger lock in an unlocked place. A recent study on adult firearm storage practices in U.S. homes found that over 1.69 million children and youth under age 18 are living in homes with loaded and unlocked firearms.

Keeping a firearm unloaded and locked, with the ammunition stored in a locked location separate from the firearm, significantly decreases the risk of suicide and unintentional firearm injury and death involving both long guns and handguns. These safe storage measures serve as a “protective effect” and assist in reducing youth suicide and unintentional injury in homes with children and teenagers where guns are stored. The presence of unlocked guns in the home increases the risk not only of accidental gun injuries but of intentional shootings as well. One study found that more than 75% of the guns used in youth suicide attempts and unintentional injuries were stored in the residence of the victim, a relative, or a friend.

OK folks, Garfunkel is quoting the LCAV. Look up the LCAV and you’ll find it’s the same sort of liberal organization as the ACLU. Garfunkel claims to be non-partisan, but if you read closely what he says, and whom he quotes, you’ll find he’s a liberal DNC shill!

rjgarfunkel, I have lived in a Pro-gun state all my adult life, and am still here. I just celebrated my 50 birthday last November. I’ve owned and used firearms, for over 4o of those 50 years. I have a CWP, and no compunctions in exercising the Constitutional and Responsible use of that right. IT is a Privilege I don’t take lightly. I resent very highly the inference that we’re all like those Liberal Whackjobs that use violence against women, with or without a gun is irrelevant. They chose to abuse that right. ANYONE THAT ABUSES A WOMAN DESERVES WORSE THAN A SLAP ON THE WRIST WITH A CDV CONVICTION!!! Those whom own guns and don’t keep them secured and do their due diligence are the ones that give the majority of responsible Gun Owners a Black Eye. What does the Obama Administration do to stop illegal immigration?!?!?! NOTHING!!!!! What do they do to infringe upon our Constitutional Right to Keep and Bear Arms?!?!?! Fast and Furious, which resulted in the Death of a ICE Border Patrol Agent!!! NOW the Drug Cartels in Mexico are armed with Automatic Weapons the Holder Justice Dept. and the BATF allowed to be smugglesd into Mexico to create the Cassus Belli Reason to institute GUN BANS!!!! GiVE US A BREAK!!!! GO PEDDLE YOUR LIBERAL DRIVEL to the Brain-dead Sheople that voted for Obama-bin-Lyin!!!!

Hey Gar, you are really wonderful at spouting stats, how do all these anti-gun stats stack up with the number of babies killed every day by your lib organization’s like Planned Parenthood? You shouldn’t mind a few guns.

“Choice,” is about a women’s control over their own bodies. Abortion will be done and has been done within and outside of the law for thousands of years. Women are not slaves to the “male concept” of what is good for their own health. The Democrats would be happy to face Rick the Zealot on the issue of choice and birth control.

As to guns and gun ownership, the trail of blood is there all to see. If you folks like getting off shooting jack rabbits with a Bazooka, you’ll have fewer and fewer acres to get your rocks off. Unfortunately, a gun is a dangerous toy and many of you mental midgets and gray matter deficient folks should not play with matches.

Every time that I see a sign on a business place that states that I can not carry my legally owned, and possessed, weapon, I send them a registered letter advising them that if anything were to happen in their business place in which I was injured , or killed, and it might have been prevented if I or any other with a legally owned weapon could have prevented it, I am placing them on notice that there will be a lawsuit!
If Starbucks does cave in to the demands of this fringe, left wing group of morons, they should also be sued along with the ” National Gun Victims Council.” Perhaps the NRA should take a pro-active lead in this endeavor. These groups are constantly suing gun manufacturers, etc., let’s turn the tables on them and sue for them taking away or constitutional rights!

In San Antonio, Texas, last year there were at least three (those publicized) home invasions that were foiled because the homeowners had firearms. What has this “girlie man” ever done with his life. These wimpy, little feminine libs are afraid of people with guns. The only way most of them would touch a gun is if someone stuck one up their asses.. You know what….that is good, because when the stuff hits the fan, they will be the first ones rounded up. Talk about ill prepared and uninformed (if he believes what he posts) fu-ker has got a big awakening coming…..and I hope there isn’t anyone with a “real gun” there to save him!

perp pulled out his little gun, the owner pulled out his double barrel shotgun,
the perp started to ran out of the store, into the jaws of his German Shepherd who just happened to sneak around towards the door and waited! Store owner disarmed the thug,
    Cops showed up perp arrested!
In today’s world the perp would sue because he got bit by the dog and the store owner took his gun before the cops got there!

Great discussion on gun owners and gun control. I’ll just keep it to this: KISS, or keep it simple stupid. If the feds out law guns, only the outlaws will have them. Guns have yet to kill people, it is the lawless that do. Those anti gun people should thank our vigilant citizens when home invaders threaten their very lives, and thus, kill them within their own home or confines. Only nut bags have caused very serious crimes, not your ordinary citizen. Look how England for centuries have kept people, even their police, from carrying guns. Times have changed since then. There are many hunters who use rifles to kill game to feed their own family, why should we take their guns away? How about those that like to go to the range for the fun of it and even go to gun competitions, should we stopped them as well? Ok, all you nut bag left wing green energy tree hugging wackos have at it. I’m sure you will bring your verbal ammo and attack us with your over the top comments. Have a nice day, and thank our military and police for keeping you safe and fee.

    • David Stovall

When seconds count, the police are only minutes away. I agree with you , but add to police and military, thanks concealed carry and home possession.

In 2007, guns took the lives of 31,224 Americans in homicides, suicides and unintentional shootings. This is the equivalent of more than 85 deaths each day and more than three deaths each hour.1 69,863 Americans were treated in hospital emergency department for non-fatal gunshot wounds in 2007.2 Firearms were the third-leading cause of injury-related deaths nationwide in 2007, following motor vehicle accidents and poisoning.

Between 1955 and 1975, the Vietnam War killed over 58,000 American soldiers – less than the number of civilians killed with guns in the U.S. in an average two-year period.4 In the first seven years of the U.S.-Iraq War, over 4,400 American soldiers were killed. Almost as many civilians are killed with guns in the U.S., however, every seven weeks.

Guns were used in 12,632 homicides in 2007, comprising over 40% of all gun deaths, and nearly 69% of all homicides.6 On average, 33 gun homicides were committed each day for the years 2002-2007.7 Regions and states with higher rates of gun ownership have significantly higher rates of homicide than states with lower rates of gun ownership.8 Where guns are prevalent, there are significantly more homicides, particularly gun homicides.

Firearms were used in 17,352 suicides in 2007, constituting 55% of all gun deaths.10 Over 50% of all suicides are committed with a firearm. On average, 46 gun suicides were committed each day for the years 2001-2007.12White males, about 40% of the U.S. population, accounted for over 80% of firearm suicides in 2007.13 A study of California handgun purchasers found that in the first year after the purchase of a handgun, suicide was the leading cause of death among the purchasers.14 Firearms were used in 45% of suicide deaths among persons under age 25 in 2007.15More than 75% of guns used in suicide attempts and unintentional injuries of 0-19 year-olds were stored in the residence of the victim, a relative, or a friend. The risk of suicide increases in homes where guns are kept loaded and/or unlocked.

Isn’t this something to consider? Why would greater safety, smart triggers, registration and limitation on sales prevent much of this?

    • donald

C’mon, Garfunkel! All we really need to do is to rigidly enforce the present laws on the books. Something the present administration seems loathe to do. As I mentioned to you yesterday when you told me you’re “non-partisan” – You really sound like a DNC shill.

      • http://advocates-wvox.com rjgarfunkel

I said my program is non-partisan- I’m a proud registered Democrat for over 45 years, have run political campaigns for decades, was in the private sector for 45 years, and came from four generations of American capitalists. Many people on both sides of my family have served honorably in the Armed Forces of the USA, going back to WWI. Almost everyone here who contributes is not only a “partisan” but certainly not open-minded. There are a number of conservative issues that I agree with and I hope that the Democratic Party incorporates some of those views. Many Democrats support the ownership of guns as I do. But, the argument promulgated by the NRA and its acolytes is not the gospel. To the NRA and all of its supporters any control regarding guns is tantamount to confiscation. That is ridiculous. By the way, I support Choice and if we had better contraception and sex education we would have better and more effective birth control and far fewer abortions. Most “sane” people recognize that reality.

        • donald

I think freedom of choice is right, too. Do you also support “free” contraception materials – As does obama? Not that that is part of the ongoing discussion here.

          • http://advocates-wvox.com rjgarfunkel

Personally I believe that contraception should be available to anyone older than 16. As to the numbers, better prevention limits abortions. I would be for less abortions for many reasons. One it is traumatic, two it is expensive for poor people, and three it engenders guilt. But, it is necessary and women have the right to control their own bodies.

First of all Western society’s concerns about uncontrollable sexual activity was understandable. Religion looked at the moral issues that constantly faced their world as critical. They saw and believed in a strong moral imperative that placed the nuclear family in a position of primary importance. As part of that desire to promote a sense and decorum with regard to moral order, they created roles for both men and women. As men were the traditional hunter/gatherers, and women were the child bearers, the future structure of the family had been delineated long before organized religion. Certainly the giving of the law by Moses and the emergence of the Ten Commandments gave a legal structure to the conduct of humans towards each other.

Over the past 3500 hundred years, humankind has been struggling with how to make the law apply within in the marketplaces, the courts, and in the family. One can readily understand the traditional and historical antipathy to homosexuality, prostitution, abortion, free love, divorce and child abuse. Certainly the concept of “be fruitful and multiply” goes back to the “covenant” between Abraham and G-d. The idea of infanticide was anathema to many in the centuries after the Common Era. Obviously today, abortion is considered by many to be infanticide. We have also seen throughout history that humans are inherently weak and many are prone to temptation. Oscar Wilde said, “I can resist everything except temptation,” and he for sure practiced what he preached. That expression sums up what is inherent in many well-meaning individuals.

But what is, and was, the consequences of patriarchal rule? Women were relegated to a second-class status. They were chattel, property! They were forced into marriages not of their own choice or free will, they were made to suffer loveless unions and to breed children most of their lives until they were no longer able to conceive. Yes, many were placed on virtual pedestals. Many were given secure, protected lives and were treated with love and kindness. But either way, their destiny was never really their own. And, what of the uncounted amount of unloved, uncared for, and abandoned children? What did these children wrought on humankind? What suffering to the world was manifested by their unwanted births? Obviously there are also countless exceptions, and for sure the world has benefitted by these individuals. But was the world made incrementally better? No one can tell.

    • Jeff Martin

How many abortions per day do you “approve” of??

    • Doc H.

You keep talking about criminal act rigarfunkel. Done by criminals, not law abiding citizens. Criminals will still have guns even if it’s illegal, duh! Just like drug dealers and drug users still have illegal drugs. You missed the common sense gift that was part of the constitution. Stop being so stupid.

    • D Fowler

Pure tripe. Love how your stats, most of which I do not believe, can be twisted and turned to any point of view. Most significantly you fail to mention or offset how many legally authorized guns actually saved lives whether in the hands of a police officer or individual citizen. Do you actually believe someone bent on committing suicide will only do so if they have a gun handy…get real. Great when you can pick the negatives and forget the positives…typical neo-left spin. And, by your reasoning it would be far better to outlaw all automobiles since they kill more people than guns.

      • donald

He’s good at that, isn’t he?

    • Chip Hawkins

I was in a Pharmacy yesterday to pick up a prescription, after coming from a certified class on concealed carry and range practice. My weapon was still holstered and partially covered by my jacket. I was aware that it protruded the bottom hem of the jacket. When my transaction was complete, I turned and asked the young lady behind me if she was frightened by her view of my weapon. “Actually, she said, with all the robberies in pharmacies over drugs, I was quite comforted by the sight of it. If you were going to rob the place , you wouldn’t have waited in line.”
Someday, rigar, your life may be saved by someone you’re behind in line. In the meantime, don’t apply for a permit to carry, or buy a weapon for your own or your family’s protection. If you are so frightened by statistics you get off a computer screen, you have no business in possession of anything that might do you harm. My registered slogan comes to mind. Freedom…someone paid for yours….in advance….with their life!

    • Mr. Conservative

Garfunkel, the fact that you used statistics from a liberal, Anti-gun site as some sort of “evidence” to support your point of view shows that you are either too lazy to look up the statistics for yourself or you just don’t seem to care to allow those of us who are responsible gun owners to exercise our right to protect ourselves, our family, or our possessions from those who would do us harm or rob us of our belongings. Like all anti-gun zealots, you feel that your right to not own a firearm is somehow superior to our right to own one. This is the same type of liberal thinking that allows criminals to sue their victims. If the criminal gets hurt or does not accomplish the goal that he set out to attain, it is somehow his right to sue the person whom he was attempting to victimize because they prevented him from doing “his job.” Spewing a dozen statistics from a liberal anti-gun site as some sort of “truthful” authority is poor judgement on your part. If you really want people to believe anything you claim, you need to get the statistics yourself from verifiable, unbiased sources and, since you want people to think you are smart, cite your sources. There is no way you would take seriously any statistics that I get from the NRA, why should I believe any statistics you get from the LCAV? Besides, I know for a fact that all of the restrictive, anti-gun laws that were passed in the City of Chicago served to only prevent law abiding citizens from protecting themselves but haven’t lowered the gang-related murder rate even a little bit. Criminals do not care what laws you pass, they ignore them anyway. Making people who are attempting to exercise their 2nd amendment rights criminals for doing so, only emboldens those who would do them harm by ensuring their victims will be disarmed.

In conclusion, while you have every right to not own a firearm, those of us who wish to, have every right to “keep and bare arms.” Passing a law to infringe upon our rights is, to quote one of your heros, “unfair.” Why is it that your rights are more important than our rights, can you answer that?

      • http://advocates-wvox.com rjgarfunkel

Did you mean “bare arms?” Does that mean roll up your sleeves? I assume that was what you meant with regards to an inoculation. Or you could have meant not “baring arms or shoulders” in a church. Or could you mean “bare arms” with regards to washing one’s self? You should be clear. Maybe you thought “bear arms” was about a grizzly’s paws? I would think a grizzly did not have arms, but when they stand on their hind legs and reach out, you better have a piece that is more powerful than a .22. Maybe while you are in the woods, and the government ATF guy is chasing you to confiscate your Thomson .50 caliber water cooled machine gun you shoot the grizzly and quickly get him and his buddies. They can’t mess with Michigan Militia or what is left of them.

True enough RJ, but in our country guns are like illegal immigrants (too many of them and no practical way to get rid of all of them).
Any politician trying doing anything about gun control and the NRA and the gun makers will pour enough money in his rival campaign that he/she will not get re-elected.

I thought Columbine will be a tipping point and people will clamor for some gun control after that…but it appears to me Americans love their guns more than their children

  • G Schmidt

Well, if you must carry a gun, I recommend low caffeine intake (or alcohol, or any mind altering substance)

Why do corporation have to have any pro or anti gun stance? That should be left to local ordinance. If you are a real cowboy in Montana, carry a gun, it is part of your tool kit.
If you are an office worker in Manhattan, you do not need a gun and you should not have a right to carry one.

    • http://cowboybyte Bill R.

(G Schmidt) Dick-head, while in Manhatten you will need a permit to carry and actually do so to protect yourself a WHOLE lot more than you will in Montana. I can also guarantee you are a lot safer in Montana than you are in Manhatten. Montana has permit to carry laws Manhatten does not allow guns at all.

      • http://advocates-wvox.com rjgarfunkel

Yes, out in Montana you may need more than a gun. You may need the whole 7th Cavalry, because you never know when Hostiles will come off the reservation and look for scalps. In olde New York, one needs a brain to compete. It seems the more urbane, educated and advanced an area is, the great equalizer is gray matter, not a Colt .45 Peacemaker, or a Buntline Special.

        • FRaNK

rjgarfuker… You are one stupid son of a communist. Those Leftist Pinko Commies you Love so much have splatter more gray matter with bullets than all the rest of us combined! You are an ill-informed, ill-mannered, ill-bred Jass-Ack!

This is the stupidest comment I’ve seen all day. G Schmidt thinks it should depend on what produces your income as to whether your are allowed to carry.
Hay stupid, anyone is a potential victim for a criminal, and we all have the right to self defense. Don’t tell me my job determines whether I can defend myself or not. Damn you’re stupid.

    • FRaNK

      G. Schmidt you are a genuine idiot…. A absolute idiot. There just isn’t any other way to describe you. Stupid really doesn’t come close. However, Moron would also be an appropriate name for you. You could even use it like a professional title G. Schmidt, Certified Moron.

  • rowley

Guns did not kill Whitney Houston or Michael Jackson.
We should outlaw drugs and alcohol. Be anti-illegal drug smugglers.
DOJ is most dangerous gun seller.
Starbucks should be anti-DOJ and Illegal drug and human Smugglers.

  • Bikerbill

Been a long-time supporter of Starbuck’s for its’ corporate firearms policy and this just reinforces my intention to shop there … the five members of this “anti-gun” group can get their coffee from a dumpster if they want … I support Starbucks and any other company that believes the 2A MEANS what it says … besides, they’d go out of business in states where people understand the value of firearms for hunting and self-defense. God Bless Texas!

  • linda miskolci

I never buy Starbuck’s. I guess I will start buying Starbuck’s if they favor the 2nd amendment.

I support the NRA, and 3 other gun support groups.

The “statistics” of who gets shot and how many get shot…………………..are ridiculous.
It is not the people who legally own and register guns who are shooting people. It is our darling Obama and Holder and their thugs who give guns to people that shoot American people.
The “statistics” are jaded and buried in lies.

rj, People also jump off bridges to commit suicide, should we close all bridges?
People drown in bathtubs to commit suicide should we make bath tubs illegal?
People jump off buildings to commit suicide, should we make skyscrapers illegal?
People hang themselves with rope, should rope be illegal?
People use knives to slit their wrists, to commit suicide, should knives be illegal?
I always said you want to commit suicide, go lay on some very well used railroad tracks!
More people accidentally die from drinking alcohol and or mixing pills, then actually
shooting themselves! If you were born in the 60′s the deaths of young men killed in
Vietnam, was compared to deaths, not by guns, but on the nations highways!

    • http://advocates-wvox.com rjgarfunkel

Most of the time you are just witless, but this time you have out done yourself. Bravo, congrats, huzzahs and cheerio for such a novel idea. Close the bridges and build buildings one story to thwart suicide. Why didn’t I think of that. It is so true, that even a blind squirrel can eventually find an acorn in the forest.

Immediately I will go down to the Zoning Board and the Planning Commission and filibuster for flatter building and pontoon bridges. Pontoon bridges were good enough for the 3rd Army to cross the Rhine when the Ludendorff Bridge at Remagan finally collapsed. That’s precious.

What was your other idea, banning knives? Great! I can understand your point, because the gruel you sup on needs only a spoon, therefore let us all in the words of Marie Antoinette, when she was asked about the people arming themselves to cut their cakes, she replied “let them eat gruel. “

      • FRaNK

rjgarfuker … You have outdone yourself………… Now you have twisted your own twisted logic into such a pretzel that even your one friend, the Drunk Moron, couldn’t figure it out. Here’s an idea. Give up and go smoke another Doobie.

  • Daniel Starnes

Ramblein from a cranky old man.
I will visit Starbucks more often and let them know why. I go armed because I am unable to retreat very fast, I will not back down from some subhuman float-sum unless I am with loved ones that harm may come to. I will do my best to remove the float – sum’s genes from the gene pool by violating his culture of feeding off humanity with retroactive birth control.
I believe an armed society is a polite society
The Jews for the preservation of firearms say dial 911 and die. It has been upheld in court that the police do not have an obligation to protect you only to protect society
. I am not the police. I do have an obligation to protect my family loved ones and fellow human beings.
I ignore the no fire arm signs posted unless I have to go through a metal detector. Then I try to check my gun. It is comical to watch the one manning the detector’s action when you ask where do I check my gun. So far I have had to return to my vehicle and secure my gun.

    • http://advocates-wvox.com rjgarfunkel

Tex Ritter is alive an well. What a great macho man story. I must tell by grandchildren of your wonderful stance against the fascists who guard the airlines. Can you imagine some towel headed miscreant asking for a Coke or trying to commandeer a plane with a plastic fork, when you are at the ready with your Lugar taken from a dead SS Colonel’s cold hand. • Thomas Wilson

Personally I like the term I first saw on Obamafile.com where he was referred to as the BOGUS P.O.T.U.S.; that’s my opinion of that. I believe there’s something inherently wrong with a man that has to a 100,000 man Secret Service Detail to protect him. He is the most Narcissistic SOB’s I’ve ever seen in my entire life. He actually considers himself as a “Constitutional Monarch. Now to this lot of Commie Loons, WHO CARES WHAT THEY THINK?!?!?!? They are the best advertisement the NRA ever had. I’ll say that Starbucks is one place I’ll go to to drink Coffee because of their NonPoliticizing the simple fact that the Second Amendment is part of the Law of the U.S.A!!!!

  • Eagle

I only shop in stores that allow open or concealed carry. If I come to the door of a business and it’s marked no weapons, I take my business to the guy next door. It bothers me not, to take my money and spend it where I’m welcome and the store follows the constitution.

  • Marie

    I’m with you, Bud.

  • JeanSC

Thank you, Starbucks. Law abiding citizens with CWP’s are not the problem. Crooks and extremist will always have guns, laws or not. If non-lawabiding citizens didn’t know who had a gun or didn’t have a gun, they would think thrice before pulling theirs. All places of business would be robbed less often if they allowed people to keep their guns with them. Their customers and employees would be safer also.

  • Eli Jones

I prefer the old slogan, “Guns Instead Of Butter”

    • http://advocates-wvox.com rjgarfunkel

There is no slogan like that! The term was “guns or butter,” meaning you can’t have all the goodies and fight a war at the same time. Read a little more and try to think once in a while.

      • Eli Jones

@rigarfunkel, actually the term was “Guns Not Butter” and it came from a Nazi in WW2. You know a Nazi like the one in the White House that keeps your nose nice and brown. Must you always show us superior Conservatives how woefully ignorant you are?

        • http://advocates-wvox.com rjgarfunkel

No clown it came from FDR, who said it was either” guns or butter”, (you can’t have both) as he took off his Dr. New Deal Hat and put on his Dr. Win the War one. “Guns not Butter” maybe you meant oleo?

          • FRaNK

rjgarfuker ….. STOP being such an Azz-hole. Life is far too short and you are far too stupid to argue with anyone above the 4th grade. So be a good little darling and go bake some cookies with mommy!

@rigarfunkel, here you are mr know it all. Hats off to you bozo, you can lie and BS as well as your Islamofascist hero in the White House. You truly are an Obamaphile nothing.

Quoted origion and usage of term “Guns Not Butter”

Perhaps the best known actual usage (in translation) was in Nazi Germany. In a speech on January 17, 1936, Minister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels stated: “We can do without butter, but, despite all our love of peace, not without arms. One cannot shoot with butter, but with guns.” Sometime in the summer of the same year, Hermann Göring announced in a speech, “Guns will make us powerful; butter will only make us fat.” BTW funky, you shouldn’t get your info from “The West Wing”. That show was ficticious.

These Nazi enemies of the Constitutions should remember one thing. They will make for good target practice for both sides when America’s Second Civil War begins. All obama has to due is send his jack booted SS brown shirt to citizens home to collect their guns & gold and he will hear the first shots of the Civil War. Hope me and my family are out of here by then. I don’t believe these intitled socialist scum bag Americans are worth fighting for .Let them burn. They want it .Let them suffer.

    Well,

    Thanks for the help……………………….

Every act of “Stupidity” by the anti-gunners is appreciated! Anyone dumb enough to spend nearly $5.00 for a “cup-of-Joe” needs to be escorted around town when they go out! This cry for gun bans will only happen when the morons on that side of the “loss of liberty” that is intended by their plan, finds a way to “Come and Get them”! By the way, when you come, bring a lunch and a bunch of help, you are going to need it!

    • nellie

Jack…I lived in Houston for some time during the many transfers of my husband with his job. I also lived in Geogia. Practically, ALL my friends carried legally concealed weapons or had them in their cars. At first this shocked me (never experienced this before being origianlly from the North) but I never questioned their rights to do what the law allowed. You have your right too – as my girlfriends used to say – pack. But if Starbucks rules bother you….just don’t go there. It is their “right” also to ask that no weapons be brought into their facilities. You have your rights…they have theirs. Seriously Dunkin Dounuts has fantastic coffee.

Shall-issue laws permitting the carrying of concealed firearms (CCW) (where law enforcement has no discretion in issuing a permit or license) do not appear to reduce crime, and no credible statistical evidence exists that such permissive CCW laws reduce crime. There is evidence permissive CCW laws generally will increase crime.

A National Academy of Sciences report reviewing existing data on the effectiveness of firearm laws, including research purporting to demonstrate that concealed carry (also called “right-to-carry”) laws reduce crime, found that the “evidence to date does not adequately indicate either the sign or the magnitude of a causal link between the passage of right-to-carry laws and crime rates.”

The “largest category of problem licensees involve[d] those who committed crimes after getting their state” permits. Florida’s CCW system had, just in the first half of 2006, licensed more than 1,400 individuals who had pleaded guilty or no contest to felonies, 216 individuals with outstanding warrants, 128 people with active domestic violence injunctions against them, and six registered sex offenders.
For additional information about the carrying of concealed weapons, including information on the dangers posed by carrying guns in public, see LCAV’s Report America Caught in the Crossfire: How Concealed Carry Laws Threaten Public Safety and our Carrying Concealed Weapons Policy Summary.

    • donald

Once again, folks, Garfunkel is quoting the LCAV. Look up the LCAV and you’ll find it’s the same sort of liberal organization as the ACLU. Garfunkel claims to be non-partisan, but if you read closely what he says, and whom he quotes, you’ll find he’s a liberal DNC shill!
In our central Texas community we have police officers, sheriffs and constables, all of whom support concealed carry. One of our constables teaches the concealed carry class. Last year during class he produced statistics produced by the Texas Highway Patrol that since Texas passed the concealed carry law years ago, violent crime, including home invasions and burglaries, is down. Somehow I would much rather believe our local law inforcement personnel than a liberal like Garfunkel.

    • iceman

rjgarfunkel You need to change the brand of weed u is smokin as the stuff u got is some bad stuff. Proven facts are that a state where CCW are issued have less crime then states that prohibit CCW. Put yourself in a Mugger’s shoes are you going to attempt to rob some one not knowing if they have a gun and can shoot your ass off or are you going to robe a person who you know is unarmed and can-not defend themselves??. well since you has bad weed you would probably try to rob the driver of an Abrams M1-A1 Tank.

      • http://advocates-wvox.com rjgarfunkel

I suggest that you cannot afford an Abrams tank and that your town’s roads can’t handle the tread. Your metaphor is out of whack. Most sane people are not against guns per say, but for smart technology, gun locks, registration, strong background checks and limits on automatic weaponry and the size of clips.

you seem to be a different thoughtful informed individual than the great majority of paranoid yahoos that actually can read no more that the 2 paragraph that Cowboy Byte publish and think they can make an informed opinion.
You are wasting your time. Most of these people have an idea of the world and no amount of facts will ever change that.
Guns, which used to be a necessary tool for our pioneer ancestors that face dangerous animals and natives daily, has been changed into an extension of people manhood. Sometimes if a person is uneducated, unemployed, a loser, they must compensate those feeling by owning a big gun and brag about how they will never take it away from them.

The facts remains, unless you are a career criminal, a soldier or in law enforcement, most people that have guns will likely use it more often killing another member of their families than defending anything…..
But who cares about facts when you can blame something else on Boogieman Obama…..

      • http://advocates-wvox.com rjgarfunkel

Its only sport, like “The Most Dangerous Game.” No one in his/her right mind could change the flat-earth thinking here. But, it is fun to counter myth with fact, dopiness with logic, and the defying of gravity with Newtonian Law. The vast majority of the remarks (maybe it would be better to say balderdash) on these sites are small minded venting against their own miserable view of life and the world. They threaten, they accuse, they rebel. Their piece is a replacement for their wilted member. Their youth is gone, their memories are of a small life sometimes in the service where they were potato peelers or gofers. They have accomplished little, so they have become bigoted haters. Just count the times they use the words: commie, rat, pinko, Manchurian Candidate, Nazi, Muslim traitor.

It is pathetic to live with such aggressive hate. But these arm chair generals are ready to “lock and load,” stock up on ammo (they would be better off with Viagra if they could afford it-Medicare doesn’t pay for it, me thinks) and defend the Constitution from the Eastern pointy-headed liberals. What a pitiful existence! Their last defenses of the 2nd Amendment and women as their servants may just be over.

Starbucks CEO and Chairman Howard Schultz has both supported and opposed Obama but Mr. Schultz has been all over the board on a lot of issues; he new mantra is “take a stand against partisanship”. He is now “take a stand against partisanship” but has contributed campaign money to just about everybody in the last few years. He is pretty much for and against everything at any given moment. Do a web-search on “Howard Schultz-political contributions”

The U.S. has the highest rate of firearm deaths among 25 high-income nations.
Living in a home where there are guns increases the risk of homicide by 40 to 170% and the risk of suicide by 90 to 460%. Guns kept in the home are more likely to be involved in a fatal or nonfatal unintentional shooting, criminal assault or suicide attempt than to be used to injure or kill in self-defense. A study of firearm storage patterns in U.S. homes found that “[o]f the homes with children and firearms, 55% were reported to have one or more firearms in an unlocked place,” and 43% reported keeping guns without a trigger lock in an unlocked place.

In 2009, the most recent year for which data is available, approximately 81% of workplace homicides were committed with a firearm. While workplace homicides have decreased steadily over time, the rate of shootings committed by co-workers or former co-workers has remained steady, with an average of 45 homicides by shooting committed by a co-worker or former co-worker per year between 1992 and 2006. A 2005 study found that workplaces where guns were specifically permitted were five to seven times more likely to be the site of a worker homicide relative to those where all weapons were prohibited. A U.S. Secret Service study of 37 school shootings in 26 states found that in nearly two-thirds of the incidents, the attacker got the gun from his or her own home or that of a relative.

College student gun owners are more likely than those who do not own guns to engage in activities that put themselves and others at risk for severe or life-threatening injuries, including reckless behavior involving alcohol, driving while intoxicated, and suffering an alcohol-related injury. One study found that two-thirds of gun-owning college students engage in binge drinking, and are more likely than unarmed college students to drink “frequently and excessively” and then engage in risky activities such as driving under the influence of alcohol and vandalizing property.

Approximately 9 out of 10 college students who were victims of violent crime were victimized off campus. Firearms were used in only 9% of all violent crimes against college students over the period 1995-2002. Fewer than 2% of students reported being threatened with a gun while at college.

My wife of 43 years and I go often to a museum on a weekend afternoon and eat dinner in the Big Apple with one of my offspring. We just saw Porgy and Bess at the Richard Rodgers Theater on 46th Street. Not a bad life after 45 years in the private sector. By the way I have run dozens of political campaigns over the post 43 years and have a pretty good record. • proslice56

You sir are a moron, if you think regurgitating other peoples quotes is going to rule the day. I am a poster child for the very reason to carry a weapon. Let me quote Charlton Heston seeing as how you like to use other people’s words “you will get my gun when you pry it from my cold dead hand.” It is my hope that someday you have a violent criminal put a gun in your face. If kids and people get a hold of loaded weapons and shoot themselves, then the parents were not good gun owners and should have educated their children in gun safety. I keep a loaded 357 in my home and my children know and respect the weapon because they have been taught how to use it and understand the use of deadly force. It is even more insane to give a car to a 16 year old than a gun bonehead. kids kill more people with cars than have ever shot themselves in history. So you go a head and quote the misguided information and keep thinking that crap and you too someday will be a victim.

People like the CEO of the National Gun Victims Action Council just don’t have any clue. Gun’s don’t kill people. People kill people. If criminals didn’t have guns they would resort to things like knives or clubs. What are you going to do then, ban knives and clubs? The thing to do is to make punishment harder on criminals. I have a gun to protect my family. I haven’t had to use it and I am 64+ years old. Yes if it come down to protecting my family,no criminal is going to hurt my family. I’m proud of Starbucks for resisting the PC rants of a totally illogical moron! I have a concealed handgun permit, and I will not patronize ANY retail establishment that bans the legal carrying of a concealed handgun, even though I recognize its right to do so. If Toys R Us, and other stores doesn’t want a citizen who’s background has been thoroughly vetted still thinks that that person is too dangerous to frequent that store, then I don’t want anything to do with it. The “No guns allowed” sign simply informs a bad guy that the store displaying the sign should be an easy mark! I feel much safer here now ever since George W. Bush, who was then governor of Texas, signed the CHP law. The typical criminal now has no idea who IS, and who ISN’T carrying a handgun. God bless Starbucks!

  • Gordon

The only gun law that Fineman will consider “sane” is the UN Gun Control law being pushed by Regressive Clinton for Marxist Obama. At that point their sanity will lie in the UN’s ability to violate your 4th amendment search and seizure rights by trespassing through the doors of your home in order to confiscate or steal your guns while also violating 2nd amendment right to bare arms. I am sure Mr. Fine man would be ecstatic over the accomplishment of trampling the Constitution and the rights of the people while leaving us defenseless against intruders.

Now for the point at hand. Laws that forbid the carrying of arms…dis arm only those who mare neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes…Such laws make things worse for the assulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. Jefferson’s “Commonplace Book,” 1774-1776, quoting from On Crimes and Punishment, by criminologist Cesare Beccaria, 1764!!!

    • http://www.nra.org MalikTous

Actually, that’s called ‘Idiocracy’ and there’s a movie about it.

  • Ruby

    BREW & BULLET’S !!!!

  • jimpeel

Starbucks was on the list of businesses to avoid as they were anti-firearms. The fact that they simply follow the laws does not change that. They used to give funds to anti-firearms groups. I don’t know if they still do.

Regardless of the corporate attitude on firearms, it does not mean that the franchisees adhere to an anti-firearms agenda. They should be judged on their individual merits and not punished by those who disagree with the corporate policy pro or con. They are simply trying to run a business, serve their customers, and make a living.

    • http://www.nra.org MalikTous

Actually, to the best of my knowledge Starbucks remained ‘neutral’ on the issue initially, giving no money to either side of the firearms argument. 7-Eleven are known to be actively supporting libtard scum like the NGAC; I boycott those Southland Co idiots and wish we could exile them to Japan. Starbucks’ current stance is to support the Constitution and applicable local laws vice libtard propaganda and co-ercion; I hope it breaks the backs of the Million Morons.

Good!!! We’ll make it a point to go to Starbucks more often in the future…good for them!!!

Well now what needs to be done here is all the Gun owners need to start their own Boycott and carry signs stating IF you are an anti Gun NUT Stay Home with your head under the bed and leave those of us who care about our own safety and protection alone.ANTI ANTI GUNNERS UNITE AND RUN THE ANTI GUNNERS OUT OF OUR STORES AND CITIES> PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE NOT GUNS. Acting Resident? More like Illegal Alien in charge. This Indonesian/ Kenyan wants nothing more than to rid this country of guns so he could pass his Socialist/ Communist agenda as Soros and he ( it ) has planned. Secondly if you think we are going to make it too November unscathed think again. If what Soros has predicted happens and the Occupy movement becomes violent, it will be all that this illegal alien in charge needs to start Martial Law in this country and start arresting American Citizens ( mainly Conservatives who are against him) . If this happens count on those votes being fraudulently passed in his favor. Second the war with Iran all so looms on the Horizon. If the first don’t happen the second will. Hezbollah is all ready in Mexico and is ready too attack the U.S. There again if we are attacked inside this country, the illegal alien in charge will start Martial Law, and start arresting American Citizens. All so With the Muslim Brotherhood all ready ingrained into his administration Hezbollah has list of Conservative targets to take out once the war begins. Don’t count out Nukes being used on American soil either. Another benefit for his Socialist/ Communist agenda would be the reduction of the population, which would be easier for him and the NWO to control. So what do think is going to happen in November?

  • djw663

Again the Lib’s protest yet another business until that business bends to the will of the few trying to force others to their way of thinking. Everything is getting political and since most conservative type people to not make much noise they will have their rights trampled while the whining, crying libs cause a ruckus. Starbucks was staying neutral and these whacko’s are forcing them to choose a side and spend a significant amount of money to choose the side of the liberals. I, for one, will patronize Starbucks more to let them know they have support if they do not wish to choose I believe they have that right and that freedom.

“Those who beat thier guns into plowshares will plow for those who don’t”-Thomas Jefferson.A man who is ,and was smarter than the people on this site.I have a question for you Mrrigarfunkel. What makes you think that you are smarter thanm any one else.Is it because you read a few more books than anyone else?Or read biased publications that print slanted views and statistics? You seem to take great pleasure in pooh-poohing other peoples beliefs, from religon to the Constitution. Why?Do you have some direct line to the AllMighty?..If you are an astute studier of history, either world or American, you will see that your views in many cases are flawed..Our forefathers were immensley more intelligent than your self, and much more truthful and honest. You have an arrogance that goes beyond common sense,so you must be a liberal.Nothing wrong with being a liberal,it’s your right. But you should start respecting opposing views,.whether you agree with them or not.I don’t like your views, but I respect them…I spent 21 months of combat in the Viet Nam war,so I am asking that you repect me.As in the 60′s and 70′s,this country is on the verge of civil war, what you do not understand is that the people you laud, will be the ones coming for you and your family, friends and relatives. Not the people on this site, but the people frtom the government. do not know if there are fema camps,or private armies,or even if there are foriegn troops being trained on our soil,to repress the people, but it has happened before, and as Santanyana said,”those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it”.We have been warned by our founding fathers to NOT trust our government, that is why we have the second amendment to the Constitution. Also, the Declaration of Independence mandates that we remove a tyrannical government,by any means necessary.Has it become necessary?Perhaps. But your elitist attitude does not help the debate, just fans the flames. But perhaps that is your intention.I don’t know who said it,but it makes sense,”opinions are like ass-holes,every one has got one

Starbucks is a patriot for the Second Amendment ….we should express our favorism to the Starbucks Corporate office for taking this stance against the anti-gun idiots. Ever notice how high the crime rate is in cities and States with strict gun control laws like Detroit and D.C.

  • proslice56

I am yet to hear about any law abiding citizen that carries a gun, shooting any unarmed person. Even if that were to happen the police hold the record for shooting unarmed people and innocent victims. The fact of the matter is once you succumb to a police state and ternary, you give up all freedoms. If this knucklehead were ever in a situation where he was at gunpoint. He would realize the futility of his argument.
In 1992 I was a cab driver and was stabbed 6 times. I shot my attacker with my gun. Had I not had my gun I would be dead. Fact of the matter is, if someone wants to commit violent crimes, they do not care about gun laws. They would have complete run of our streets and victimize people allot more. I live in Arizona and we have no gun laws. Everyone has the right to conceal without a permit or open carry. Gun crimes have dropped dramatically since it became law. Tell Mr. Lineman to STFU. The only people shooting people here are cops and gang members.

I have never been a customer of Starbucks; however, that will change today. It isn’t the law abiding citizen with a concealed weapon that concerns me but the guy with the hoodie terrizing the store. • http://deprogrammingservices.com deprogramming services

This sort of bullying tactic used by the liberal cult is nothing new. It’s one of many methods they use in the political war they levy against the American Republic. Those of us who want to defend our country from this army of traitors need to stand together and defend each victim it singles out. Otherwise when they concentrate against us there will be no one left to help us fight back, and we will lose. So I intend to start doing business with Starbucks, and I hope all patriots will do the same.

  • SteveG.

  • http://deprogrammingservices.com deprogramming services

It should be pointed out at every opportunity that the reason mass murderers and other criminals have the amount of success they have is that their victims were unarmed and so unable to fight back. The liberal cult wants this dynamic continued, and expanded.

It is a fact that more people have been murdered by governments than by private citizens. So disarming citizens to supposedly make them safer from violence is obviously and undeniably counterproductive. The traitors in government and the liberal press who promote civilian disarmament can not possibly be ignorant of this truth.

The draconian gun laws passed several years back in England resulted in a massive increase in violent crime there. So there was no doubt whatsoever that disarming citizens made them less rather than more safe from violence. But did the government change its mind about gun control when that truth became evident? Not even a little tiny bit.

That’s because gun control has nothing to do with protecting the innocent and it never did. Protecting innocent lives has never been anything but an excuse and a lie. The purpose is and has always been to concentrate power into the hands of government and the elite. Gun control, in other words, is people control. And history is filled with examples of the kinds of terrible things that can happen after that has been accomplished.

    • proslice56

      Exactly.

  • http://www.finsandfeatherstaxidermy.net Gene Galitz

Good for Starbucks! I normally drink regular coffee will have to give them a try when there’s one in my area.

  • http://deprogrammingservices.com deprogramming services

Civilian disarmament, or gun control as it is called, is one of the most morally repugnant things a government can attempt. This is because it has been an essential accessory to all of the crimes, enslavement, and genocides committed by governments.

The liberal cult has programmed people to believe that racism is the most morally repugnant thing there is. But class warfare has led to far more slavery, genocide, oppression, and suffering than racism. And all of those crimes caused by racism and class warfare both was made possible by civilian disarmament.

The hands of anti gun bigots are filthy with blood, and they are among the most morally repugnant people ever to have walked the face of the Earth. These liars deceive themselves about this truth just as they deceive others about their purpose. So those of us who seek to defend our freedom should find any opportunity to break through the armor of doublethink these bigots clad themselves with and make the truth known to them.

Don’t let them get away with pretending to be decent human beings while they attempt to disarm us and make us helpless; treat them like the hate-filled, lying bigots they are.

Gasoline is rising to four dollars a gal. by the end of April…Gasoline has jumped about ten percent so far this year….Looks like these higher prices’ are going to be long- term so doesn’t it make sense our option is to “DRILL in OUR COUNTRY” ??? My question , what is Obama , Senate ,Congress doing about this” HUGE PROBLEM” ? Obama says ” NO ” to the pipeline in Canada which will create thousands of jobs let alone accomplish a start of independence oil supply than depending on other countries { that do not like us very much }. Could it be Obama does not want to cut off” HIS “supply of contributions to his campaign from Unions, Environmentalist, Banks, Rich oil Co., etc. this is all about money, power ?? It does not matter to these people in Washington about the oil supply & the price of gas because we pay for their travel, airplanes, autos ,etc. the middle class Americans are suffering from this robbery !

Obama says of his $3.8 trillion Budget, “we can not just cut our way into growth “, WHY NOT OBAMA” ???? STOP THE DAMN SPENDING !! We have not seen any growth in this country since you took office…” STOP THE WASTEFUL STIMULUS FUNDING “to the very rich which you benefit with” MILLIONS” of campaign money…Stop lying about JOBS, you know it & we know there are” NO GROWTH”, you need to count the thousands & thousands that are no longer looking for jobs & are no longer getting unemployment,” QUIT BULL SH>>TING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE” with your lies !! You say we can not cut, lies, lies, because the news this AM says you are cutting the defense to the extent it is very, very “DANGEROUS” plus other cuts like MEDICAID< MEDICARE<SOCIAL SECURITY{ the Republicans are up in air about & fighting it} so what about that ??? We are very disappointed with Leon Penneta, looks like he is one of your regime, another one that is taking this country down, if not he would resign & tell you to go to ," YOU KNOW WHERE"!! Why haven't you work with the other side?? Why, because you think you are "KING" and you can do as you please, well think again as it does not work that way, we the people have the say, you all in Washington are our employees , we hired you at the voting booth { WHICH WAS A BIG MISTAKE IN 08 } & we Americans decided to "FIRE YOU & YOUR REGIME IN 2012" so start packing !! You & your family have lived off of us Americans long enough with our money, we are fed up & not taking any more of your"DICTATORSHIP"…this is the "LAND OF THE FREE" & we intend to keep it that way!! "GOD BLESS AMERICA, OUR MEN & WOMEN IN HARMS WAY" !!!

This is an excerpt from a secret directive of the liberal hierarchy:

There are a few gun control groups, or cells as they are referred to strategically, that are so secret most of us haven’t heard of them. One that has been very active on the assault weapons campaign is called Fellowship of Liberals Obediently Castigating Kalashnikovs (FLOCK). FLOCK uses a technique common among those who levy political war, called Swill Happily the Elixir the Empire Pours (SHEEP). This cell is connected to the technique by an ancient directive called Obliterate Freedom (OF). Together, this cell, directive, and technique are known as FLOCK OF SHEEP.

FLOCK OF SHEEP would have been successful had it not been for a very troublesome band of freedom fighters called NRA (Never Relinquish America). So it is the duty of all participants in the political war being levied by the liberal cult to attack the NRA liberally.

  • proslice56

    NOTE: To Mr. Fineman
Gun ownership is 99.9% in Switzerland. Every citizen is required to serve in the military. After your obligation is fulfilled you keep your weapon and from that point on you are an active member of the military. Violent crimes in Switzerland are non existent for that reason. Get a clue you liberal idiot. FYI Switzerland is one of the biggest liberal states.

  • Bob S.

Let me suggest that the CEO of the National Gun Victims Action Council (NGAC), who is so opposed to Americans retaining the right of self defense, that he consider the following facts. First of all any American has the legal right to self defense. Police are not always handy when a criminal threatens you with serious bodily injury or death, so just maybe Mr. Elliot Fineman should consider the the fact that the average police response time to a 911 call is roughly 14 minutes, whereas the average response time of a .357 magnum is just a little in excess of 1300 ft. per second. Which one does he want defending his wife and family? I’m over being barraged by these so called “do-gooder” pseudo altruistic liberal lemmings wanting to tell the rest of us in this country how we should live our lives. I don’t intrude on his civil liberties, so I would suggest to him that he stay the hell away from mine!! If he would rather not carry a firearm so be it, the second amendment doesn’t say he has to, only that he has the right too. If in his perverted little mind he thinks by banning guns from Starbucks that the criminal element will somehow then shy away from their stores seem just a “wee bit” naive. These progressive extremists are all to quick to assume the alleged “moral high ground” when it comes to their view of our rights, when in fact it is not his, nor his Messiah in Washington, that gave us those rights. I put it to him that they came from a constitution that has treated the people of this country pretty well for over 230+ years. I know he, and the likes of such illustrious Supreme Court Justices as Ruth Bader Ginsberg or Sonia Sotomayor, who believe that our founding document is antiquated and needs to be “updated”. In the minds of true patriotic Americans most prefer to accept that document as the rock solid foundation for our entire system of government and way of life. If it is so repulsive to him maybe he should consider Saudi Arabia, Libya, Syria, or the like where you don’t have to worry about such minutia as civil liberties and/or personal freedoms. In fact if history teaches us anything about what happens to a people who are disarmed by their government, then maybe we should remember the same thing happened in pre- WW II Germany for instance. My response to Mr. Fineman would be to find some other cause to glorify and pay homage to, thereby somehow giving meaning to his life. He needs to climb down off his self serving pedestal and join the real world, which still believes in the constitutional rights of American citizens!!

  • bebe13

Terrific!! Tine to strap on my 357 and head to Starbucks to support them. Always thought they were too pricey, but freedom is NEVER free or cheap.

  • Joanne Britt

Didn’t Hitler confiscate all guns from German towns (along with books that were burned in the village sqares) prior to his holocaust atrocities? It would be awful to have a Muslim infiltrator in our White House as a high-ranking authority who might want to do the same thing prior to our country’s holocaust (destroying our Constitution and freedoms), wouldn’t it? One-world government, one-world religion, etc. Vote this party OUT completely.

  • http://www.whenthefatmanspeaks.com gary jones

Okay, Mr. Fineman we will take you and all the people like you who are against owning a gun; put you to the test. We want you to mail in your names, legal resident addresses and business addresses and then we will release all the murders, fraudsters and rapist but before they leave give them your information so they can take and harm you nut cases. Obama has security with weapons and he would already be dead if he didn’t have protection. Now, I don’t like Obama and I don’t like you, lets see if you kinder and gentler works for you clowns.
News flash for all you pink panty waring, politically correct bit.hes and the Obama loving sack suckers get a job and earn for your future.

The assassination of Resident Obama would be the worst thing that could ever happen. With all the red and pink packin followers this guy and his cronies have, the martyrdom would be enormous. If Starbucks supports the “NRA’s lethal Pro-Gun Agenda,” then Mr. Fineman supports murder, rape, genocide, and other such horrific crimes. They’re both inflammatory and unqualified statements to promote an agenda – neither of which I believe.

The fact is, Starbucks made a business decision to serve customers (ie., to make money), and, at worst, chose the path of least resistance – that is, to allow the Constitution and local law determine who a law abiding Citizen is, and to respect the Citizen’s rights and personal choices within that definition.

Considering some of Starbucks’ past decisions (particularly the 9/11 debacle, which really angered me as both a Citizen and retired veteran), this one has redeeming qualities; and while I might visit Starbucks once or twice a year, I’ll support their stand on this issue.

Just for the sake of argument, I wonder if Mr. Fineman has a personal security team, and are they armed? Given his exposure as an inflammatory activist, I would tend to think so, and I would hope that our tax dollars don’t pay the bill; meaning, he shares the typical double standard of most anti-gun zealots…

  • Fieldworker

Everybody should stop and think. Ban CEO Elliot Fineman from their business that way he can go and find everything that is needed for him to survive from his NGAC supporters. Wake up you stupid people. Get rid of this bastard by not dealing with him. Refuse service to anyone that support him and NGAC agenda.

  • Carlos

Wow! Quite the spirited debate. Funkel certainly has a talented motor mouth. What I find missing here is the realization that the 2nd amendment has nothing to do with self defense and the thwarting of violent crime. The 2nd amendment is all about the peoples right to arm themselves against the government. The first part recognizes the fact that a well armed militia is necessary to a free state. The 2nd part is about balancing the 1st part with an armed populace. Check…Balance. It’s the heart and soul of our governance.

If you haven’t seen it you haven’t been paying attention my friend. His two appointments to the Supreme Court are as anti-gun as they are anti-American. They are among the most destructive acts Obama has committed so far, regarding the 2nd Amendment as well as all other Constitutional freedoms.

Eric Holder made a speech awhile back where he claimed that the violence in Mexico was being caused, or at the very least aggravated, by America’s supposedly lax gun laws. He tried to support this outlandish claim by saying that most of the illegal guns in Mexico came from America. Fox News explained the lie in that statement, so that avenue of gun control was shut down, at least temporarily. What we didn’t know at the time was that Holder’s department, the DOJ, was deliberately letting thousands of American guns to go into the hands of criminals in Mexico (see fast and furious for more on this). It is extremely unlikely that these two things happening during the same period was a coincidence.

Also during this period, Obama’s Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, made it clear that she and her boss support the UN treaty that will make it illegal for private citizens worldwide to keep and bear arms.

Obama told Sarah Brady (who later reported it on her website) that he is working on civilian disarmament, but that his efforts had to be (in his words) “under the table.”

There is no doubt that these things are just the tip of the proverbial iceberg compared to what you will see in a second Obama term, when he doesn’t have to worry about getting reelected.

      Kjelstad;
Just want you to know I’m about as far from Racist as is possible;race has absolutely NOTHING to do with my “extreme dislike of the current occupier of the White House”;I’d hate him just as much no matter what color,or lack of color he is. It’s not about race,it’s about someone who has lived a lie, campaigned and gotten elected on a platform of lies and is destroying our Country through a network of lies and misdirection and distortion of facts. In fact, outside of his being EVIL incarnate,he’s probably not a bad guy-NICE voice. Make a good Liberal Radio announcer.

      • Tejano Jack

Racism, racism, racism! Most Americans are so sick of hearing that mantra, no one buys it anymore. The left has cried wolf way too long. In deed, there may be valid calims of racism which have gone unheeded because of this abuse.

Bottom line though, when the left cries racism, you know you’ve one the argument. Tejano Jack

Have you REALLY been listening to what obama has been saying and watching what he has been doing? Or do you have your head stuck in the sand and are mesmerised by his flowery rhetoric?

  • Joe Horenkamp

I take full advantage of my 2nd Amendment rights. Yesterday one of the Michigan Open Carry groups had a delightful two hours of fellowship at Starbucks. All of us were armed, some open carried. Most people didn’t even notice. I for one will be going out of my way to patronize Starbucks. And oh yeah, I will be gaining my NRA certifications for home and gun safety, and gun training. Remember, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away…

    • Speed

Joe,how does that saying go? “An ARMED society is a POLITE society”,I think, but I’d add it’s a SAFE society. Think about it-what kind of idiot is going to rob a 7-11 or $tarbuck$ at gunpoint if he knows everyone in there is packing? A seriously DEAD one.

  • DocJohnM

The NGAC sounds like a bunch of wackos! I’m happy to patronage Star Bucks for their stance on common sense. The Second Amendment I hope is here to stay. Hilary needs a swift kick in the butt over her Small Arms Policy 0through the UN. The UN has no business meddling with American politics and our Second Amendment. Obama wants to utilize a page out of Hitler’s play book, confiscate all the guns so his henchmen (SS Troopers) can march into homes without opposition. After all, he has to fill those FEMA camps somehow.

  • http://lowellt.blogspot.com/ L.T.

Too bad there isn’t a place to register and show support where the CEO of Starbucks can see it.

  • Dawn

Hillary Clinton is really pushing the UN gun control issue. People in high places think the whole Fast and Furious was to enhance the gun control agenda of the UN. “Holder lied, people died”. He is still lying to the House Committee he is appearing before. The White House is doing everything possible to not release emails, etc. The Libs were caught red handed at setting up gun running. The President did NOT know about this? I know he didn’t plan it. He isn’t smart enough. A social worker with the gift of gab.

    • Speed

      Dawn;
I really hope we can get completely OUT of the UN. They have absolutely NOTHING to offer the US,and any of their intervention in US policy inside our borders is not going to fly well. I hope they realize they’d be hard pressed to get any of our Military to help with their little “Gun Gather”;as a matter of fact,I believe MOST if not ALL soldiers would stand with the American people against any attempt to override the Second Amendment, since this is one thing every one of ‘em takes an oath to defend, and uncounted numbers have died to protect. I also think local Police and Sheriffs officers would resist the gun-grabbers’ efforts,if for no other reason than they know they are still close enough to being “We the People” to lose their OWN freedom to the very same threats as the rest of us. BTW-Hillary should be hung for Treason, right alongside Obama,Holder,Reid,Pelosi,Boxer…We’re gonna need a LOT bigger venue to do this!

    • http://www.nra.org MalikTous

Both Klintons are unacceptable libtards who should be exiled. Wilhelm got to invade the Whitehouse by having ACORN corpse-vote him in, hence I reject everything he did and feel that all of it should be retroactively repealed and shovelled into a landfill. His hag wife should be exiled with him; I do not consider us as having a Secretary of State at this time. The UN has become a travesty of its origins, taken over by third-world mediocrity and libtards with socialist axes to grind; it has reached the same point that dissolved the League of Nations and should be flushed out of NYC. They can take their Agenda 21 and their lousy Small Arms Treaty and stick ‘em where the sun don’t shine. Down with the Anti-Gun Lobby! Bring all ACORN members to trial for treason!

Why doesn’t someone compile a list of businesses and associations with whom any and all of these people and families are associated. Then the list should be disseminated so that we can boycott in retaliation. I believe that we outnumber them and can do them more harm than they do. The boycott must extend way beyond the immediate family to cousins, uncles, aunts nephews, etc. Make them hurt. Put the financial pressure on every family. Hit them in the pocketbook.

I just heard this AM about a protest regarding Planned Parenthood, where the protesters used that exact same methodology;it’s extremely effective, but it also ravaged a lot of innocent people’s lives. A lot of these relatives have nothing to do with what their RELATIVES do for a living,it’s not cool to screw up their lives for something they took no part in. I guess it’d work,in a “Take No Prisoners” scenario, though.

Thanks for the heads up, I will be doing MORE business at Starbucks. . .

  • Juanita Rice

I don’t go to Starbucks because I really don’t like their coffee. Now I WILL go just to support their gun views. More people need to get armed and learn how to use their weapon. When the government is only legal carriers of guns, we the citizens are in a whole lot of trouble.

  • didi

Kudos to Starbucks! Don’t let the thugs push you around. I’m am going to get everyone I know to visit Starbucks regularly. Everyone please visit starbucks. Starbucks we have your back….more people on your side then not!!!!!!! I’ll take a machiato please……

After reading this article and checking out the web page of the National Gun Victims Action Council I joined the NRA. The National Gun Victims Action Council crowed on their site that the NRA would never defeat their boycott because they outnumber them in members by 50 to 1.

    • http://www.nra.org MalikTous

I’ve been a life NRA member since joining in the mid 70s shortly after joining the Navy. I have consistently rejected frauds like the NG(V)AC (I can think of a number of nasty and lewd rewordings of their acronym already!) and will continue to do so my whole life. I boycott firms like 7-Eleven for their known support of the unConstitutional Anti-Gun Lobby (including NGAC) and will continue to vote against libtards who push unConstitutional gun laws. Elliot the Idiot Fineman (Fraudman?) should be exiled from the USA along with Sarah Brady, Joe Biden, Charles Schumer, Dian Feinstein, and other unConstitutional libtards.

Several years ago a mass murder was committed at the Von Maur store in the Westroads mall in Omaha Nebraska. The owners of the mall were accessories to the murder, because they had put up signs on the doors all over saying that citizens were not allowed to bear arms on their property. (Apparently the murderer didn’t see the signs, or he would have left his weapon outside.) So all shoppers were legally compelled to be unarmed and helpless.

Right after the murders the no guns signs were quietly removed. Then months later they were put back up. No one said anything about this or even seemed to notice.

This is another one of a thousand examples of the kinds of deceptions the liberal cult uses in its war on the Republic.

He is another part of America’s problem and no part of a solution.

I didn’t write this one, but I wish I had.
    REMEMBER JANUARY 3, 2007
The day the Democrats took over was not January 22nd 2009, it was actually January 3rd 2007, the day the Democrats took over the House of Representatives and the Senate, at the very start of the 110th Congress.
The Democratic Party controlled a majority in both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995 For those who are listening to the liberals propagating the fallacy that everything is “Bush’s Fault”, think about this:
January 3rd, 2007, the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress:
The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77
The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%
    The Unemployment rate was 4.6%
George Bush’s Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB CREATION!
By the way GWB had Nothing to do with the GM bailout MR. Obama did all of that not GW!!!!!!!!!
    Remember that day…
January 3rd, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee.
The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy?
    BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES!
THANK YOU DEMOCRATS (especially Barney ) for taking us from 13,000 DOW, 3.5 GDP and 4.6% Unemployment…to this CRISIS by (among MANY other things) dumping 5-6 TRILLION Dollars of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FIASCOES!
(BTW: Bush asked Congress 17 times to stop Fannie & Freddie – starting in 2001 because it was financially risky for the US economy). Barney blocked it and called it a “Chicken Little Philosophy” (and the sky did fall!)
And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac? OBAMA
And who fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie?
OBAMA and the Democrat Congress, especially BARNEY!!!!
So when someone tries to blame Bush…
REMEMBER JANUARY 3rd, 2007….THE DAY THE DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER!”
Bush may have been in the car but the Democrats were in charge of the gas pedal and steering wheel they were driving the economy into the ditch. Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democratic Party.
Furthermore, the Democrats controlled the budget process for 2008 & 2009 as well as 2010 & 2011.
In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases.
For 2009 though, Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the 2009 budget.
And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete 2009. Let’s remember what the deficits looked like during that period:
If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets. That deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending. After that, Democrats in Congress took control of spending, and that includes Barack Obama, who voted for the budgets.
If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself.
In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is “I inherited a deficit that I voted for, And then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since January 20th.”
There is no way this will be widely publicized, unless each of us sends it on!
“The problems we face today exist because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by those who vote for a living.”
That my friends constitutes socialism…a welfare state.

  • Eli Jones

I will frequent Starbucks even more now. There’s many more of us Conservatives than the WH Nazi’s flock so we’ll blow their silly little boycott away.

  • Wayne Peterkin

“As local laws also allow them to ban guns, they expose their real position which has nothing to do with local laws; the fact is that Starbucks supports the NRA’s lethal Pro-Gun Agenda,” – Fineman

That quote from the end of this article says it all. The NRA and law-abiding citizens are the risk to these anti-gun zealots, not the criminals who ignore the law carrying and using firearms against citizens. The same people who the zealots wish to disarm are the those who help insure public safety, safety from violent crime. Fineman and his ilk are simpleminded fools who cannot separate criminals from responsible people.

    • http://www.nra.org MalikTous

Fineman is an idiot. The NRA’s pro-gun policy also encourages citizens to be able to hit what they shoot at and be responsible for their weapons, and to follow the instructions of range safety officers and police as a Constitutional ‘Well Regulated Militia’, thus avoiding any undue abuse of firearms by lawful citizens with firearms. The real fun time would be if Fineman was a robbery victim and avoided more than minor injury while a lawful concealed-carry-permit holder intervened until a cop showed up to remove the criminal. That’s how CCRKBA, NAGR, and NRA promote our fully armed citizenry. There is no armed crime in Kennesaw GA because all citizens are armed and legally able to defend themselves; gun-banned DC and Chicago are crime pestholes. Gun control CAUSES crime!

I drove 20 miles out of my way to go to a Starbucks on Feb 14th. I figured I would go to the mall and buy something for my wife for Valentines day but I felt compelled to go to Starbucks. Well, I got my coffee but, nothing for my wife, and boy did I hear about that. Over $3 for a cup of coffee, and 40 miles in a truck that gets 10mpg at $3.54 a gallon. One expensive cup of coffee but I still feel as though I did the right thing. (But I now have to take my wife out this weekend for a Valentines dinner at a damn expensive restaurant, have to shave, have to wear something other than jeans and a t-shirt. That sucks) Maybe I should just take her to Starbucks :)

  • John Hand

Gee, I’d like to support Starbucks but I don’t drink coffee……I know! My wife drinks coffee. Honey?

  • http://www.nra.org MalikTous

On 14 February, I went and bought a bottled tea drink (I don’t drink coffee) at my local Starbucks and complimented the store chain for its pro-Constitution policy. I will also continue boycotting 7-Eleven for their support of moronic gun control. The Million Morons can suck it, and the rest of the Anti-Gun Lobby should be exiled from the USA as the traitors they are. ALL gun control should be retroactively repealed back to the Civil War!

  • Old Faithful Geyser

Elliott Fineman is a TROUBLE MAKING MORON and I am sure that what he spends at Starbucks every year is less than what most people leave as a tip at a good restaurant for a meal.
He sounds to me like a SIMPLETON that is trying to make a name for himself by claiming he is CEO (?) of some un-recognizable group of fruitcakes. Who the hell has ever heard of National Gun Victims Action Council and they have the acyronym NGAC what the hell happened to the “V” ?

How much power does this anti gun group have with consumers? They may never drink coffee made at Starbucks for all we know. Their boycott can hurt business only if they are in a picket line. No one will know their economic strength to withhold funds to Starbucks without knowing more about them as a purchasing group.

It sounds as if a group of bitter liberals may be trying to take future credit for a downtick in Strabucks business that has been dropping for three years.

  • celador2

I see many supporters of Starbucks in the thread which is a natural and normal reaction. But keep in mine Starbucks is probably ultra liberal on most issues and leans with Democrats. So I would be careful throwing all my eggs into one basket, is my point. If this is a Seattle WA company it is ultra liberal.
They want customers and do not want to go beyond local law, which would drive away customers. A sound business decision.

  • Richard N

Yep the anti-gun morons their only saying is “My way or no way”, I have written the CEO an e-mail sometime back thanking him for his stand against these idiots and for the law. Now I live in west Texas and I doubt the anti-gun freaks would have a boycott ofour local Starbucks here for several reasons, outside of Houston it would be hard to find two anti-gun people at the same time and then only in a big city and they are too lazy to travel out here. And the other reason is they might not think it was to good for their health being out here and vocal against the local rabble. God bless Texas.

So I guess when that ARMED GUNMAN comes into rob you, you WILL let them and the POLICE know that you have a BREW NOT BULLETS policy?

    REALLY?

So your gun toting patrons can not save your life, as they are banned from carrying their guns into your establishment.

All I can say is if your this stupid then the police should be alerted that any calls from Starbucks is PROHIBITED due to STUPIDITY AND POLICIES.

I like how people who stomp their feet and protest your right to defend yourself SURE scream the loudest when it comes to them needing HELP OR PROTECTION. Take Rosie O and her fit she gave Tom Selleck for being an NRA member but YET, she has body guards and I am pretty sure they carried guns.
